Copper Jug with Ruskin Mounts J47 Original, quality, tall, narrow copper water jug of an Arts and Crafts form, circa 1900/1920's, with six inset, blue ceramic 'Ruskin' cabachons, a super rivetted pouring lip and a side strap handle. The interior has been fully tinned and the underside is stamped with a logo of two open palmed hands, for the maker Jones Brothers of Wolverhampton. The following is also scratched to the underside: 'Smith Rose 66136'. One cabachon is cracked, but otherwise all is complete and in good order and has been polished and lacquered; an elegant jug. 12" high x 5" diameter at base x 7.5" wide including handle and pouring lip. Brass Jug J40* Original quality, late 19th century, brass water jug in an Aesthetic Movement style, with a good pouring lip and shaped side handle. Stamped to the underside "4" for its size four pints and "3JM". It looks like a 'Perry and Sons' jug put it is not marked as such. Has been polished and all is complete and in good order. Benson Copper Jug J25* Original quality copper jug, circa 1880/1900, with an enamelled liner, brass fittings and a horn finial to the hinged lid. This insulated tapered shaped jug is stamped to the reverse of the brass side handle for the Arts & Crafts designer 'W.A.S Benson', and also the underside of the jug is stamped 'H'. Loveridge Milk and Sugar Bowl Set J22* Original quality pressed brass milk/cream jug and sugar bowl with lid. Impressed to the underside of both with a large registration lozenge mark for '24th Jan 1881', 'The Pekin' and 'Henry Loveridge & Co'. The lid, with its turned ebony knob, may well be from the teapot of the set, which is sadly not available. H.Loveridge & Co was a respected manufacturer in Wolverhampton, famous for its metal ware and papier mâché household ware and produced items designed by Dr Christopher Dresser. This pair does have an Arts & Crafts feel about them. Both items have good tinning to the interior, are free of any dents and are perfect. Copper Firescreen F109 Original, quality wrought iron firescreen frame, with an inset deep relief decorated copper panel, circa 1900/1920's. The blacksmith made wrought iron frame is in the Art Nouveau style, with open twist baskets in the side uprights and the copper panel depicts a viking ship on the waves. Has been cleaned, the copper polished and lacquered and the wrought iron repainted black and all is complete and in good order. 30" high, 20.75" and 8.5" front to back at feet. 3 Piece Set of Brass Fire Irons FI.217 Original, quality, set of three matching, brass fire irons circa 1880, comprising tongs, shovel and poker all in the original lacquered finish. These pieces, in the Arts and Crafts style, are each impressed with the orb and cross maker's mark for Benham and Froud, and are in superb, little used condition. Pair of Brass Fire Dogs FD55* Pair of original quality, late 19th century, cast brass firedogs of an Arts and Crafts design, probably manufactured by Benham and Froud and very similar to the Dr Christopher Dresser design: a really wacky pair of firedogs. These were used to rest the fire irons shovels, tongs and poker upon. Replacement inner cast iron weights have been made to suit and all have been polished, lacquered and are complete and in good and working order. 7.25" tall x 8.25" widest + 5" front to back. Oval Brass Tea Tray T55 Original, quality heavy brass, oval shaped tea/drinks tray, circa 1900/1920's, with a raised outer rim and open ring handles to each end. This tray was originally nickel plated and much of this has remained on the underside. The raised border has a rope twist embossed decoration, the handles have a beaded design and the main tray has a repeated motif of acanthus leaves and flower heads around the outer edge and an oval design to the centre. Benson Copper Kettle On Stand K39* Original quality copper kettle with spirit burner and stand, both the kettle and stand are marked to the underside for the designer "W.A.S. Benson" a leading Arts and Crafts designer of the day. This item was manufactured circa 1880/1900. The copper kettle has a brass spout and handle with most of the original cane covering the grip. The knob on the lid has an old split but is the original as is the stand and burner. The wick to the meths burner is an old replacement homemade from cloth. All is otherwise complete and in good order. The mark to the underside of both the stand and kettle is the shield logo with the three hammers and "W.A.S.B" and "British Made". Copper Spirit Kettle on Stand K22* Original quality small copper tea kettle, on a brass stand complete with the spirit burner, circa 1900/1920's. Most of the tightly woven cane covering to the handle is intact, as is the tinning to the inside. The whole is very much in the Arts and Crafts style, undoubtedly a copy at the time of 'Benson'. The kettle is stamped to the underside for the maker, a shield with crossed battle axes within and 'C.D.E.' between the axe shafts, also 'E' and '1', possibly for the size, one pint. The finger-grip wick control on the burner is also marked 'C.D.'. The stamp to the underside of the kettle is very similar at first glance to one of W.A.S. Benson's marks. All is complete and in good and working order. A super, small piece of Arts and Crafts metalware. 12" tall complete, 6.5" spread of base, 7" widest including spout. Set of 3 Brass Drawer Handles CK144 Set of eight original, quality pressed brass drawer pull handles, stamped with the registration number for the year 1888. Each backplate has four screw holes for mounting and a cast brass drop loop pull grip. These examples have an overall Arts and Crafts style and two are a lot smaller originially for the top smaller drawers on a dressing chest. All is complete and in good order. Benson Copper Ice Bucket / Soup Tureen IB4* Original quality, 1920's, copper ice bucket with an enamelled white interior to the bucket and lid, with brass side handles and knob to the lid. The underside of the handles are impressed 'W.A.S. Benson Patent'. The white enamel lining has a few very minor chips and rub marks but otherwise all is in superb order.
