Original, quality, late 19th century, oval shaped, steel dairy can, as used on milk delivery prams and floats when delivering door to door straight from the churn. This example has the standard brass wire swing handle to the top, a fixed loop to the reverse and large brass mounts to the hinge of the lid. Impressed to the front "Harrow" for the delivery and also to the front "Headstone Farm Dairy". Cleaned and lacquered, although the lacquer may be removed if required at no extra cost. Some pitting, but otherwise complete and in good order. 4.75" tall x 5" wide including side lugs + 3.5" front to back including rear loop.

Impressed to the front "24 Oxford Street" for the delivery address, "Dairy Supply Co Museum Street London" for the maker of the can and impressed to the top of the lid "Avington PK.DY.Co" and "2" for the supplying dairy, 'Avington Park Dairy Company'. The top of the brass hinge plate to the lid, is also embossed with the trademark "The Britannia Can". Cleaned, polished and lacquered, although the lacquer may be removed if required at no extra cost. Complete and in good order. 4.75" tall x 5" wide including lugs + 3.75" front to back including rear clip.

Impressed to the front "Hall and Porter Isleworth" for the dairy, "Hutchins and Son, Makers, Kingston on Thames" and another brass plaque is fixed to the lid engraved "ALENBURN" for the delivery of the milk. A well above average example, cleaned, polished and lacquered, although the lacquer may be removed if required at no extra cost. Original, quality, white ceramic dairy bowl, with tapered sides, a thick rolled top rim and transfer print to the underside detailing "GVIR", "Wedgwood Barlaston 1952" and "Made in England". 91. Ceramic items with these Royal Ciphers were generally from Government or Royal establishments for staff use, but not for the Royal Family to use themselves. A good clean bowl, complete and in good order. Top diameter 10.5", 7.5" base x 4.5" tall.

Original quality, late 19th century, oval steel dairy can as used on milk delivery prams and floats when delivering from door to door, straight from the churn. This example has the standard brass wire loop swing handle to the top, a fixed loop to the back and large brass mounts to the hinge of the lid. Impressed to the front "B and OE Parsons, 11 Chester Terrace Brighton" for the maker of the can and "School Hill Creamery" for the supplier of the milk or cream. The lid is also stamped "A J Reed". All has been cleaned and lacquered and is complete and in good order. Base 4.75" x 3.5" and total 6.25" tall with handle down.

Original, quality, 1920's, small, copper, spherical shaped, 1.5 pint sized Guernsey milk can with a side strap handle and a circular lid with a deep return. This shape dairy can was peculiar to the islands of Guernsey and nearby and the strength and rigidity was gained by the position of the seams and joins. This can has a brass maker's label to the underside, detailing 'J. T. Laine Guernsey' and '3 1/2' and has a really clean tinning to the inside. Polished, lacquered and complete and in super condition. The lacquer can be removed, if required, at no extra cost. 6.5" tall including handle on lid, body 4.5" diameter and 5.5" front to back including handle. Price is for each.

Grimwade's Safety Milk Bowl DP117
Original, quality, off white, ceramic, 'patent' hygienic milk bowl manufactured by Grimwade's. At 12.5" wide, this milk bowl is the largest of a range of sizes. The inner glazing has manufacturing blemishes and the pouring lip has a miniscule chip to the underside, otherwise all is complete and in good order. The top rim is transfer printed in green 'The Grimwade Patent Safety Milk Bowl' and the underside 'The Grimwade Patent Hygienic Milk Bowl', 'Won't Slop Over', 'Pours Easily', 'Prevents Flies Walking Into Milk', 'Hangs Up When Not In Use', 'A Desiratum In Every Household' and with a registration number and a patent number for the year 1909. This large size is hard to find. 12.5" diameter of bowl x 4.5" tall and total length including spout and handle 15".

Original, quality, post war, one pint capacity, glass milk bottle detailed to the front 'Briar Farm Dairy, G. H. W. Shutter 23 Tennyson Rd Luton, phone 1797'. One chip to the top rim, otherwise in good order. This size milk bottle originally had a push in cardboard cap. 8.5" tall, base 3" and top 2 1/8" external.

Brass Guernsey Milk Can DP112
Original, quality, late 19th Century, spherical shaped, brass, four pint Guernsey milk can with a side strap handle and a circular lid with a deep return. This shape dairy can was peculiar to the islands of Guernsey and near by and the strength and rigidity was gained by the position of the seams and joins. These cans usually had maker's labels to the underside and are more often found in copper. This example has been polished and lacquered and is complete and in good order with only a couple of very minor dents. Body 6.5" diameter, 9" tall including lid and 8" front to back.

This example has a super colour, has been well treated for worm and has two inset plates to the inside surface to stop the two splits from increasing. Original, quality, square, glass, table model butter churn with a tin lid and external gearing with a winding handle to turn the wooden paddles inside. The gearing is enclosed with red painted covers, embossed 'Blow' and with the registration number for the year 1948, and the glass body is embossed 'Blow Butter Churn 4140', 'Made in England' and '4 Imperial Quarts'. The metalwork has been cleaned and lacquered and all is complete and in good and working order. Base 6.5" x 6.5" and 14.5" tall and 8.25" including handle.

Dairy Yoke with Chains DP93
Original, quality, milkmaid's dairy yoke, circa 1900, complete with the original hooks and chains. This yoke, in beech, has few wormholes, but has been well treated and the chains cleaned and lacquered. Part way down the chains are the adjustment hooks to ensure the length is correct for carrying the milk buckets, for ideally, the dairy maid would be holding the milk pails at a level for the yoke to take a share of the weight. A super clean yoke and chain, complete and in good and working order. Yoke 36" x 7" x 2.5" and hooks and chains 35" x 2".

The lead custom stamp to the front details 'GR' and '22' and impressed below is '1/2 Pint'. Has been cleaned and lacquered and is complete and in good order. 2.75" diameter and 6.75" high and 4" front to back.

Bottle of Cheese Rennet DP90
Original, quality, late 19th Century, buff coloured stoneware bottle with a pouring lip and cork, a superb paper label and the original contents. The label details 'Made In England', 'Chr Hansen's Standard Cheese Rennet' with directions for use and various cameos of medals and awards, and a picture of a scene at the 'International Dairy Fair' New York in 1878. The reverse is impressed for the maker of the bottle, 'Price of Bristol'. The coloured label is a little scuffed but complete and the bottle is mint. Rennet is a natural complex of enzymes used in the production of cheese to curdle the milk to produce the curds and whey. All is complete and in good order. 11" high and 4" diameter.

Original quality, 19th century, glazed oval shaped stoneware crock in the form of a cooper made barrel tub with hoops. The exterior is in a pale brown colour and the inside a near cream. The front is embossed with a ribbon banner with flowers over and the details 'Mrs Hunter' and beneath the side handles it is impressed '2' for the size, say 2 gallons and for the maker 'H Kennedy, Barrow? Pottery, Glasgow'. There is a firing crack around some of the bottom edge inside, which is visible from both the inside and out, but it does not leak, otherwise it is in super order with no chips or glazing damage. Could this be for newly laid eggs on a dairy counter? Or perhaps for milk or butter? Top 15" x 12" + 5.5", base 13" x 9.5", widest including side grips 16.5".

Impressed to the front 'Gillanders Inverness', '3lb' (for the size) to the reverse and 'Port Dundas Pottery of Glasgow' for the manufacturer. Original quality, 19th century, two tone glazed stoneware butter crock. Impressed to the front 'D.C.Knowles Family Grocer, Brechen' and to one side '10lb' for the size and 'Port Dundas Pottery Co. Glasgow' for the manufacturer. Typical for this type of Scottish stoneware, the top brown band is impressed with a decorative design. This type of crock did not originally have a matching lid but would have a waxed card lid and a linen top cover tied under the rim. Complete and in good order. 10" top diameter, 6.5" base + 8.25" tall.

This type of crock did not originally have a matching lid but would have a waxed card lid and a linen top cover tied under the rim. This example has two side grips and the typical decorated impressed band beneath the top rim. It also has two chips, one under the top rim and the other to the bottom edge, otherwise all is complete and in good order. 10.25" top diameter, 7" base + 8.5" tall.
