Pair of original, quality, late 19th century, cast iron door porters / door stops. These examples have acanthus leaf forms to the body, with a ribbon and leaf loop shape, top handgrip. The reverse is impressed "47" for the model number and "Baldwin" for the manufacturer and iron foundry. Cleaned and lacquered, complete and in good order. 7.75" tall x base 4.75" + 2.75" front to back. Price is for the pair.

Original, quality, late 19th century, cast iron door porter, with a gothic revival top loop grip and an overall design incorporating acanthus leaves. The reverse is impressed "A.K and Sons" for the manufacturer A Kenrick and Sons of West Bromwich and "No 472" for the model number. Cleaned, lacquered and complete and in good order. 12" tall, 6" wide at base + 2" front to back.

Original, quality, late 19th century cast brass door porter with lead infill to the base for a counterweight. This example has a stylised Hibiscus flower head to the top as a hand grip. Polished and lacquered, although the lacquer may be removed at no extra cost and complete and in good and working order. Base 5" + 2.25" front to back + 13" tall. A matching porter, just a little taller, may well be available reference code DP38.

Original, quality, early to mid 19th century, cast iron door stop, with a rectangular base, probably manufactured by 'Coalbrookdale Foundry.' The main body is in the form of acanthus leaves, with a ropetwist pattern top handgrip loop. The reverse is impressed "372" in script and all has been lacquered, although the lacquer may be removed at no extra cost. Complete and in good order. 11.5" tall x base 4.75" + 3" front to back.

Original, quality, mid to late 19th century, cast brass door porter, with a lead infill, a spiral twisted brass stem and a cast brass ring shaped lifting handle. The main body is in the very detailed form of a cloven hoof with fur, snail shaped side mounts and a shell shaped back. Polished and lacquered, although the lacquer may be removed at no extra cost. A stunning door porter, the first we have seen of this model. Complete and in good order. Base 2.5" wide, 4" front to back, total 16.5" tall + handle 3.5" wide.

Cast Iron Door Porter DP49
Original, quality, late 19th century, superb cast iron door porter, with entwining fish 'Georgian Dolphins' on a bed of seaweed and shells, with a top handgrip of flowers and leaves. The reverse is impressed with "470" for the model number and this is the number for an identical example detailed in the 1876 catalogue of 'A Kenrick and Son, iron founder, of West Bromwich, Staffordshire'. The detail on this casting is just the best and this is the first we have had of this model. Cleaned, lacquered and complete and in good order. 14.5" tall x 7.75" base + 3.5" front to back.

Original, quality, late 19th Century, cast brass door porter with a cast iron weighted base. This example has a detailed figure of cupid to the top, part standing on a stack of books and with a bow to one side. The halo above its head serves as a loop hand grip. An unusual example, the first we have seen. Has been polished and lacquered, although the lacquer can be removed if required, at no extra cost. Complete and in good order. 17.25" tall, 6" wide at base and 3.5" front to back.

Cast Iron Civil War Memorial Door Porter DP39
Original, quality, superbly detailed, cast iron door porter, we think issued to commemorate the end of the US Civil War; for the registration lozenge mark to the reverse is for the year 1865, and the Civil War was 1854 to 1865. The detail includes a sabre, a musket with bayonet, cannons and balls, flags and pennant lances and various other items, all mounted on a plinth with a wreath of laurel leaves to the top, in the form of a memorial. The reverse is impressed with the registration lozenge mark for the year 1865, 'No 183575' and '670'. Several very minor repairs have been made, all has been cleaned and lacquered and is complete and in superb order. 17.5" high, 9.5" wide at base and 5" front to back at base.

Original, quality, late 19th century, brass, floor surface mounted door stop. This example has six countersunk screw holes for mounting and a very strong leaf spring to the underside. Polished and lacquered, although the lacquer may be removed at no extra cost and is complete and in good order. Backplate 6" x 1.5", spring catch 1" x 0.75".

Original, quality, post war, circular cast brass, floor mounted door stop, with the original keep. The keep would be mounted to the underside of the door and the adjustable spring stop would be recessed into the floor. The surround is impressed "Adjustable" and "Pat 380028" and all has been polished and lacquered, although the lacquer may be removed at no extra cost. Complete and in good and working order. Surround 3" diameter, 2" diameter to be recessed x 2" deep, keep 2.5" x 1.5". Price is for each.

Original, quality, post war, circular cast brass floor mounted door stop, with the original keep. The keep would be mounted to the underside of the door using the four countersunk screw holes and the sprung stop would be recessed into the floor. All polished and lacquered, although the lacquer may be removed at no extra cost. Complete and in good and working order. Stop surround 3" diameter, to be recessed 1.5" + keep plate 2.5" x 1.5".
