Stamped under the rim "1/2 Gill" and "VR" under a crown and engraved to the underside "George The Fourth" for the previous pub owner. Copper Measuring Spoon M113 Original, quality, late 19th century, thick copper double ended measuring spoon- one tablespoon and one teaspoon. The tapered shaft is stamped for the maker / retailer "Jones and Ravey, 4 Conduit Street S.W." and with a crown between. 	Quart Ceramic Ale Measure M112 Original, quality 1920's, quart sized, ceramic ale measure in superb condition. This example in blue with a white interior and white handle. The 'Custom and Excise' stamp in the glaze details "Quart" over a crown, over "G.R. 19. 'GR' is for the reign of King George V. Mochaware Quart Ale Measure M111 Original, quality 1920's, quart sized, ale measure in superb condition. This off white coloured ceramic measure has the Mochaware decoration on a sandy coloured band, and a side loop handle. The 'Custom and Excise' stamp in the glaze details "Quart" over a crown, over "E.R. 19". 'ER' is for the reign of King Edward VII. 	Oak Pulse Measure M110 Original, quality, late 19th century, 'Cooper' made oak pulse measure for measuring dried peas, beans etc. This measure is the first we have seen, with the two measures incorporated in one tub. The oak floor is set at the correct depth for the quart measure stood one way up and the 1/2 gallon when turned over. The oak slats are retained within two blacksmith wrought iron bands and both sides of the floor and one side wall to the outside are impressed "VR No 262" for the Custom and Excise proof. Two brass plaques are also fitted to the outside wall denoting "Quart" and "1/2 gallon". Pint Ale Measure M109 Original, quality 1920's, one pint, ceramic ale measure with a side handle and a pale blue willow pattern overall design and an acid etched Custom and Excise mark "GR" for the reign of King George IV beneath a Crown over "19". A super looker and complete and in good order. Another similar measure may well be available reference code M98. Base diameter 3.5" x 5.25" tall x 5" wide including the handle. 	Run of 8 Copper Ale Measures M106 Original, quality, run of eight, late 19th Century, graduated, copper 'Haystack' ale measures with pouring lips and side handles. The largest being four gallons, ranging down to three, two, one and half gallon, quart, half pint and half gill. All are marked to the front with the sizes, all have custom and excise lead stamps, or the remains of, and the following have makers plates - four gallon and two gallon 'Farrow and Jackson', three gallon 'Lumley' and one gallon 'Loftus'. Although all have minor dents and scuffs, they are all complete and in super condition otherwise. All have been polished and lacquered, although the lacquer can be removed, if required, at no extra cost. 1 Gallon Petrol Measure M104 Original, quality, post war, tinsmith made, sheet steel, cylindrical shaped, one gallon measure for checking the output of petrol pumps at filling stations. These measures were used by the government weights and measures / custom and excise departments and this example has a copper flange to the top with a drain tap to ensure the correct measure is issued. The lead seal to the top flange is stamped '5', the steel body is impressed '437' and embossed 'Gallon' and an oval brass label is affixed detailing the maker's name: 'Hardware Plate Co Ltd London SE11'. Some wear and tear dents and knocks to the copper top flange, otherwise all is complete and in good order and has been cleaned and lacquered. 7.25" base diameter and 11" tall. 	3 Gallon Petrol Measure M102 Original, quality, post war, tinsmith made, sheet steel, cylindrical shaped, three gallon measure for checking the output of petrol pumps at filling stations. Pint Ale Measure M98 Original, quality, one pint, ceramic ale measure circa 1910, with a side handle, a pale blue willow pattern overall and an acid etched custom and excise mark; 'ER' for the reign of King Edward VI beneath the crown and over '19'. This example has an underglaze firing blemish to the bottom edge, but is perfect otherwise and a super looker. 5" tall, 3.5" diameter and 4.75" wide including handle. 	Pewter Ale Measure Jug M97 Original, quality, 19th Century, pewter, quart sized measure jug / tankard with a side handle and a good pouring lip to the front. Engraved to the body in upper case 'Quart', with a custom and excise stamp 'VR' over '349' and in script to the underside - 'Plymouth Inn, Ridgeway'. Gallon Oil Measure M95 Original, quality, 1920's, tinsmith made, one gallon, motor oil measure with a rear loop handle and a pouring spout to the front. The lead weights and measures seal details GR for King George V, 1911 to 1936. 	Pint and 1/2 Pint Ale Measure M82 A pair of original, quality, late 19th Century, cast nickel, pint and half pint ale measures with side handles. Stamped under the rim 'Pint' and 'VR' over a crown, over '21 LCC' and 'Half Pint' and 'ER' over a crown and '239 LCC'. Both are also engraved in script to the front 'Kings Cross Distillery'. Most of the silver plating has worn away, but the solid nickel looks better. 	Quart Pulse Measure M75 Original, quality, 1920's, brass bound bentwood measure for pulses (dried beans, etc.), as sold by corn chandlers or seedsmen. The front is branded 'Quart', with 'GR', under a crown over a shield device and '19'. Rabone Boxwood Foot Gauge M72 Original, quality pre-war, folding boxwood measure in metric, used to size customer's feet when purchasing new shoes. Marked for the manufacturer 'J. 	Copper Ale Measure M65 Original, quality mid 19th Century copper ale measure, with a pouring lip to the top and a side loop handle. The front is stamped '1/2 Gallon' and inside the top flange is 'GR', a crown and a makers plaque for 'J Sissons & Co of London'. The top flange is a little dented and the handle more so, but otherwise all is complete and in good order and has been polsihed and lacquered. 8.5" high, 7" base diameter and 9.5" wide including handle. Tams Pint Measure M57 Original, quality, late 19th century, cream coloured pint ale measure with the custom and excise mark to the glaze detailing "VR32" beneath a crown. Transfer printed to the front "Crown Pottery" within a wreath and above "Patent Government stamped measure, John Tams of Longston Staffs Earthenware Manufacturer". 	Gill Wooden Measure M55 Original quality 'Gill' sized all wooden, corn chandler's pulse measure, circa 1900 to 1910. This all beech measure is impressed to both the outside and the inside "ER" with a crown for the reign of King Edward, also impressed '523' and 'LCC' for London County Council and with a side handle as on a mug. Very unusual to find one complete and in such super condition. 2.25" diameter, 4" tall + 3" front to back. Another similar pair may well be available ref M54. Pair of Pint and Half Pint Wooden Measures M54 Pair of original quality, 19th century, 'pint' and 'half pint' all wooden, corn chandler's pulse measures. Both of these beech measures are impressed with "VR" beneath a crown, over a shield shaped mark that is to the inside and outside surface and each also has a side handle, as on a mug. Very unusual to find these complete and in such super condition. 'Pint' 5.5" tall x 3.5" diameter + 5" wide including handle, 'half pint' 4.5" tall x 3" diameter + 4" wide including handle. Half Gallon Bentwood Pulse Measure M44 Original quality seedsman's bentwood half gallon pulse measure, circa 1900. Branded to the outside wall and to the inner floor and side wall with the custom and excise stamp with King Edward's crown, '4' and 'LCC' for London County Council. Signs of old worm but well treated and generally complete and in good order. Interestingly the bottom of this example has been turned and is now fitted inside the top rim and the whole item is turned upside down. Diameter 6.25" and 5.75" tall. 	Shoe Shop Foot Measure M38 Original quality, late 19th century, wooden measure with brass fittings for measuring feet when sizing for shoes. Calibrated in shoe sizes 1 to 13, and inches 1" to 12" and 1" to 16". Stamped to the top surface 'Pat'd Apr'l 13 1880, Frank W. Whitcher Co, Boston - Mass', manufactured in the USA. Folding Boxwood Foot Measure M36 Original quality, 1920's, boxwood measure for measuring feet in shoe shops. Calibrated to one side in inches and shoe sizes to the other and marked for the maker 'Ullathorne & Co'. The hinges etc are all in brass and all is complete and in good and working order. Etched in the glaze for the custom and excise stamp 'GR' with a crown above, over '490' within a circle and 'Pint' over. Verners Sight Rule R34 Original, quality boxwood rule with fold down sides in brass and a lock on or off compass, secured with a brass cover engraved "W.H Harling London No144", "1901" and "WD". The underside has the manufacturer's details including "Verners Improved, Sight Rule" and the registration number for the year 1895. A superb boxwood gauge with its original brown leather case. Rabone 25ft Tape Measure R32 Original, quality, pre-war, 25ft, steel tape measure in superb condition in a steel case with a brass, fold down, winding handle. The case, in the original blued steel finish, is detailed 'John Rabone & Sons, Birmingham, England' and '25ft, No. 4351'. The original card box with it, was in fact for a 33ft rule of the same vintage. The box is scuffed, but otherwise all is complete and in good and working order. Carton 3.25" x 1" and tape 3" x 0.75". Critchley Bros Tailor's Yard Stick R30 Original, quality, 1920's, circular, light coloured, wooden rod 36" yard measure, with brass tips to both ends and calibrated to 36" in inches and divisions thereof, and to the reverse in sixteenths of a yard. The reverse is also stamped for the maker - 'Critchley Bros Ltd Stroud, Glos' - and to one end with a custom and excise stamp, 'GR' beneath a crown, over '410'. 	Rabone 24" Folding Ruler R28 Original, quality late 19th Century, 24" folding boxwood ruler with brass hinge plates and side edges, all complete with the locking pins and calibrated in inches and parts thereof. Boxwood 12" Rule R25 Original, quality, 1920's, three sided boxwood 12" rule / measure. Each side has different calibrations; 1", 3/32", 3/16", 1 ½", 3/4", 3/8", 1/4", 1/8", and 1/2". The centre of each side has a groove end to end and one side is marked 'V.B. London Make'. All is complete and in good and working order. 12.75" long and each side 7/8". Boxwood Watchglass Gauge R16 Original, quality, 1920's, boxwood gauge, with a shaped hand grip and a brass stop. Calibrated equally to both sides 0 to 5 to 10 to 15 up to 45. 	E. Preston No 3854 Boxwood Rule R15 Original, quality, 1920's, 36" folding boxwood rule, with brass fittings, calibrated in inches and fractions thereof. Stamped for the maker 'E.Preston & Sons, Birmingham, England', 'No 3854' for the model and 'Warranted Best Boxwood'. 12" Folding Boxwood Sector DI.2 Original, quality 12" folding boxwood sector, circa 1900/1920, with brass hinge and details to both sides. Previous owner's name 'H.W. 	Bate's Saccharometer SI1 Original quality, 18th or 19th century, Bate's patent saccharometer in the original mahogany box, manufactured by 'Buss, 33 Harton Garden, London'. The fitted interior is complete with the brass float, four brass counter weights and the thermometer mounted on a brass backplate. The thermometer plate and the rod on the float are both engraved with the manufacture's name and address, as is the ivorine plaque to the top of the lid. The lining to the interior is perished and the brass is in the old used finish, otherwise all is complete and in good order. Box 8" x 3" x 2". Click on photo for larger and other views. 	Boxwood Rule & Level SP36 Original, quality 1920's boxwood 18" rule with brass plates to the ends on the underside and with both vertical and horizontal spirit levels with green bubbles.
