	Half Pint Dairy Measure DP50* Original quality, 1920's, tinsmith made tin half pint dairy measure with pouring spout and a curved over side handle. The half cover to the spout is impressed 'For Bottle Filling Only', and the side is marked 'Half Pint' and it has a good lead custom and excise mark. Preston 12" Folding Ruler R24* Original quality, 1920's, unused boxwood 12" folding ruler calibrated in inches. This example folds four times into a 3" length and bears the model no 3232 and the trade mark for 'Edward Preston', a top quality tool manufacturer. All is complete and in super condition with the unmarked original lacquered finish and the original suede pouch. Closed in pouch 3.5" x 1.5" x 1, extended 12" x 0.25". 	Boxwood Hat Measure R23* Original quality, 1920's, 5" long boxwood measure manufacturered by "Turner's Atherton & Co Ltd of Denton" and marked to one edge. One side is in inches with a slide out brass extension also in inches and the other side details the hat sizes, length and widths. An unusual hatter's measure for sizing the customer's own hat. Rabone No 1179 Boxwood Rule R22* Original quality, 1920's, brass bound boxwood 36" ruler stamped for the maker 'J. Rabone & Son, Birmingham England', 'Made in England' and 'No 1179'. This ruler is folded in four sections, calibrated in inches and various divisions there of and is in superb condition. Complete and in good and working order. 	Rabone No 1190 Boxwood Folding Ruler R19* Original quality, 1920/30's, 24" folding boxwood rule with brass mounts and an integral spirit level. Appears to have had very little use, as much of the laquer remains on the brass work. The rule is calibrated in inches and parts of, and is stamped 'Made in England', 'No 1190' and 'Warrant Best Boxwood'. Complete and in superb order. Folded 6.75" x 1.5" x 0.5" and open 24" x 0.75". E. Preston No 3854 Boxwood Rule R15* Original quality, 1920's, 36" folding boxwood rule, with brass fittings, calibrated in inches and fractions thereof. Stamped for the maker 'E.Preston & Sons, Birmingham, England', 'No 3854' for the model and 'Warranted Best Boxwood'. Wear to one pin hole and one scorch mark to the boxwood, otherwise complete and in good and working order. Open 36" x 0.5" x 0.25" and closed 9" x 1" x 0.5". 4" Boxwood Rope Gauge R10* Original quality, post war, boxwood 4" rule, calibrated in inches with brass mounts and joints, marked for the manufacturer 'J.Rabone & Sons' and 'Made in England' and 'British ropes Ltd'. 	Half Pint Mocha Ware Measure M50* Original quality, 19th century, half pint ceramic ale measure with an off white side strap handle and interior, pale blue, black and beige mocha ware decorated exterior and a custom and excise stamp, acid etched into the glaze. '71' beneath 'VR' beneath a crown, beneath 'Half Pint' over an upper case 'E'. The '71' is for Newcastle upon Tyne City, the crown and 'VR' for Queen Victoria. This example has a small chip to the top rim and an inch long hairline crack from the top, otherwise all is in good order. Base 3" diameter, 3.75" tall x 4.5" wide including handle. A second matching ale measure (but perfect) may be available ref code M49. These half pint measures are most difficult to find. Click on photo for larger and other views. Price: £95.00*


Half Pint Mocha Ware Measure M49* Original quality, 19th century, half pint ceramic ale measure with an off white side strap handle and interior, pale blue, black and beige mocha ware decorated exterior and a custom and excise stamp, acid etched into the glaze. '71' beneath 'VR' beneath a crown, beneath 'Half Pint' over an upper case 'E'. The '71' is for Newcastle upon Tyne City, the crown and 'VR' for Queen Victoria. Apart from some discolouration to the handle this example is complete and in superb order. Base 3" diameter, 3.75" tall x 4.5" wide including handle. A second matching ale measure (but with a little damage) may be available ref code M50. These half pint measures are most difficult to find. Click on photo for larger and other views. 	Bentwood Bushel Measure M48* Original quality bentwood bushel corn measure, circa 1900, with wrought iron straps, rims and side handles. The bottom has been replaced with an oak panel as the original was in very poor condition and the worm to the sidewalls has been well treated. All has been cleaned and refinished and apart from a few minor splits, all is complete and in good order. A good clean custom and excise mark is branded to the outside top of the front and details "ER" beneath a King's crown for King Edward VII, 1901 to 1910, over "4", over "LCC" for London County Council and "Bushel". Parcel Post Measuring Tape M47 Original quality brass cased measuring tape for measuring parcel dimensions for posting. The polished cotton tape is complete with inch divisions up to 6ft and the reverse is stamped 'Postal Parcel Measure'. Each side of the brass case is detailed in full with the maximum dimension permitted to one side and the 'Inland Postal Parcel' rates for the years 1883 to 1886. Half Gallon Bentwood Pulse Measure M44 Original quality seedsman's bentwood half gallon pulse measure, circa 1900. Branded to the outside wall and to the inner floor and side wall with the custom and excise stamp with King Edward's crown, '4' and 'LCC' for London County Council. Signs of old worm but well treated and generally complete and in good order. Interestingly the bottom of this example has been turned and is now fitted inside the top rim and the whole item is turned upside down. Diameter 6.25" and 5.75" tall. Shoe Shop Foot Measure M38* Original quality, late 19th century, wooden measure with brass fittings for measuring feet when sizing for shoes. Calibrated in shoe sizes 1 to 13, and inches 1" to 12" and 1" to 16". Stamped to the top surface 'Pat'd Apr'l 13 1880, Frank W. Whitcher Co, Boston - Mass', manufactured in the USA. 	Folding Boxwood Foot Measure M36* Original quality, 1920's, boxwood measure for measuring feet in shoe shops. Calibrated to one side in inches and shoe sizes to the other and marked for the maker 'Ullathorne & Co'. The hinges etc are all in brass and all is complete and in good and working order. Farrow & Jackson Quart Copper Ale Measure M29* Original quality, late 19th century, quart size copper ale measure, with a good lead custom and excise mark detailing 'VR' and an applied embossed label for 'Farrow & Jackson, Tower Street, London'. The main body is impressed 'Quart' for the size. This is the standard style ale measure with the pouring lip and loop handle to one side. 	Quart Pewter & Brass Ale Measure M28* Original quality, 19th century, two pint pewter ale measure with a side handle and a brass top rim. This exceptional pewter measure has a clear stamp to the brass rim detailing 'VR' beneath a crown all above '2', with 'Quart' in upper cased text. The pewter is also stamped many times to one side with a variety of custom and excise marks and to the inner base with a rubbed maker's stamp which could be 'Loftus, 32 Oxford Street, London'? Pink Pint Ceramic Ale Measure M26* Original quality, 1920's, pint ceramic ale measure. Pink to the outside and white to the underside, handle and interior. Etched in the glaze for the custom and excise stamp 'GR' with a crown above, over '490' within a circle and 'Pint' over. 	1 Pint Blue Ale Measure M18* Original quality, 1920's, ceramic one pint ale measure, of simple form with a light blue outer on a white inside, with a white side handle. The custom and excise proof mark is etched into the glaze to the front, 'Pint' with 'GR19' under a crown. Complete and in good order. 5" tall x 3.25" diameter. 4 Gallon Ale Measure M17* Original quality, 19th century, huge copper four gallon ale measure with pouring lip and tubular looped side handle. The lead custom stamp to the inside of the top lip has a feint 'VR' mark and a maker's plate is also affixed for 'Farrow & Jackson, London & Paris'. Some very minor dents to the handle otherwise all is complete and in good order. 15" tall, base diameter 15.5", widest including handle 18". Click on photo for larger and other views. 	1/2 Gallon Copper Ale Measure M16* Original quality, 19th century, copper ale measure with pouring lip and tubular looped side handle and a good lead custom stamp to the inside of the pouring lip. With various crowns and numbers stamped, marked also 'Imperial' in upper cased text and '1/2' engraved to the front of the main body. 	12" Folding Boxwood Sector DI.2* Original quality 12" folding boxwood sector, circa 1900/1920, with brass hinge and details to both sides. Previous owner's name 'H.W. Bate's Saccharometer SI.1 Original quality, 18th or 19th century, Bate's patent saccharometer in the original mahogany box, manufactured by 'Buss, 33 Harton Garden, London'. The fitted interior is complete with the brass float, four brass counter weights and the thermometer mounted on a brass backplate. The thermometer plate and the rod on the float are both engraved with the manufacture's name and address, as is the ivorine plaque to the top of the lid. The lining to the interior is perished and the brass is in the old used finish, otherwise all is complete and in good order. Box 8" x 3" x 2". Click on photo for larger and other views.
