W.T & S Brass Door Knocker DK162 Original quality, late 19th century, heavy cast brass door knocker with an integral vertical letter flap. The rectangular backplate is embossed with an overall pattern of sunflowers and leaves in the aesthetic movement style and the vertical letter flap has a matching sunflower stem and leaves. The heavy drop knocker also has similar designs embossed and the top rim of the backplate has 'Letters' in upper case. The reverse is marked 'W.T & S' for the manufacturer William Tonks & Son of Birmingham and has the reistration lozenge mark for the year 1882. The letter flap has a heavy weight to the rear instead of a spring return and replacement bolts and nuts have been fitted. All is complete and in good and working order.
