This huge example has brass surrounds to the keyhole and spindle hole and brass mounts to the keep. It will take a standard modern square bar for the handle and has the provision for a handle turn and a key lock. The reverse is punch engraved "Adame Mars" in two places, possibly for the manufacturer blacksmith. Has been fully overhauled, cleaned and lacquered and is complete and in good and working order. Brass Rimlock RL388 Original, quality larger than average, late 19th century, surface mounted brass door lock. Will take a standard modern square bar for the handles.This lock has the provision for a handle turn and key lock, a replacement keep has been made to suit and an old key altered to fit. This heavy example is rather unusual in having a mounting flange top and bottom and all the internal mechanisms appear to be in brass; this was generally the case where a spark would be dangerous i.e. a dry store, stables, gunpowder or ammunition store etc. A super lock, fully overhauled, polished and lacquered, although the lacquer may be removed if required at no extra cost and is complete and in good and working order.
