	Pair of Brass Fire Dogs FD55* Pair of original quality, late 19th century, cast brass firedogs of an Arts and Crafts design, probably manufactured by Benham and Froud and very similar to the Dr Christopher dresser design: a really wacky pair of firedogs. These were used to rest the fire irons shovels, tongs and poker upon. Replacement inner cast iron weights have been made to suit and all has been polished, lacquered and is complete and in good and working order. 7.25" tall x 8.25" widest + 5" front to back. Pair of Brass Fire Dogs FD54 Pair of original quality brass fire dogs. These are used to rest fire irons, shovels, tongs and pokers upon. The central urn shaped stems have circular bars running through with floral shaped end caps and all are mounted on circular dome shaped brass bases with cast iron weighted bodies underneath. The finials are stamped with the registration number for the year 1906. All has been polished and lacquered and apart from some minor dents to the base covers, all is complete and in good and working order. Bases 5" x 7" arms + 6.5" tall. Price is for the pair. 	Pair of Brass Fire dogs, 2 pairs available FD53 Pair of original quality, late 19th century, cast brass firedogs; marked to the underside with the orb and cross trade mark for the manufacturer Benham and Froud of London. These were used to rest fire irons shovels, tongs and pokers upon. These unusual dogs have turned columns matching the top rail and are impressed with a bull's-eye design to the legs. 	Pair Brass and Copper Fire Dogs FD50 Pair of original quality cast brass fire dogs with copper ribbed ball finials, circa 1880. This elaborate pair of fire dogs has a style of the Arts and Crafts movement and was used to rest the fire irons such as shovels, tongs and poker, upon. Pair of Brass Firedogs FD49 Pair of original quality, late 19th Century reeded brass firedogs of an 'Arts & Crafts' design. This example was probably manufactured by Benham & Froud to a design by Dr Christopher Dresser, a leading designer of the Aesthetic Movement style. Each is stamped to the underside only with two numbers "9" and "22" and they bear no other marks. A seriously wacky pair of firedogs. 	Brass Footman FM1 Original quality heavy cast brass footman with two false drawers over the cabriole front legs and two side handles. This example is constructed from five cast brass panels, each impressed to the reverse with the registration number for the year 1904 and mounted with legs and side handles. Copper Coal Vase CB6 Original quality Art Nouveau copper coal vase, circa 1900 to 1920's, with shaped copper side handles, four decorative feet and a lift out rising shaped lid with a ball finial knob. The body and lid are in the beaten copper finish and the underside is stamped "British Make Soutterware" and the logo for Willam Soutter and son of Birmingham. This appears not to have ever had a liner and could have been offered in the manufacturers catalogue as a Jardiniere without the lid as well as a coal vase with. 	Large Copper Coal Helmet CH42 Original quality, superb late 19th century, large coal helmet in heavy grade copper with a swing handle over and a grip to the rear. This is stamped to the underside with "20" and the Orb & Cross trade mark for Benham & Froud of London, no wonder it is of such quality. Some very minor dents and scuffs to the body but with no serious wear to the circular foot. All is complete and in good and working order and the largest we have seen of this style. Copper Coal Helmet CH40 Original quality copper coal helmet, circa 1900/1920's, with a hinged brass swing over handle and a rear fixed handgrip, both with the original turned ebony grips. Some good repairs to the side rims and now all complete and in good and working order. Has been polished and lacquered. 17.5" tall with handgrip, 11.5" wide and 18.5" front to back and foot 8.5". 	Pair of Benham & Froud Copper Coal Helmets CH39 Pair of original quality, late 19th century, superb copper and wrought iron coal buckets, these are very likely to be designed by Dr. Christopher Dresser and are marked with the registration number for the year 1891 and the 'orb and cross' logo for the manufacturer 'Benham and Froud' of London who did manufacture many of Dresser's designs. The wrought iron has been cleaned and lacquered and the copper polished, one small repair has been made to the leading edge of one, see picture number seven. The very near matching brass shovels with turned oak handles are replacements of similar age to the coal scoops and are a superb fit to the loop inside the roof of the coal container. For some strange reason the reeded copper handles to the top of the bins are of a slightly different reed, but otherwise both the coal buckets are identical. The registration number is stamped to the front lower edge and the orb and cross logo is to the centre of the underside. There are a few very very minor dents to the copper bodies, almost not worth mentioning and some minor pitting, all is otherwise in superb order. Very, eye catching, very decorative, very usable and can you believe it a matching pair. Maximum 15" wide at handle 17.5" high at handle 20" front to back of the body, body only 12" wide x 20" front to back and shovels 13.5" x 5.5". Price is for the pair. Copper Coal Vase CH30 Original quality stunning copper coal vase, circa 1900/1920's, with the original galvanised lift-out liner and brass fittings. This coal vase, in the Arts and Crafts style, is egg shaped, with three brass tubular feet, brass side grips and a brass handle to the lid, This looks as if it should have been made by Benham and Froud, but no marks for any maker are evident. Some very minor scuffs and miniscule dents and all is complete and in good and working order. 	Pierced Steel Fender F95 Original quality, early to mid 19th century, serpentine shaped pierced steel fender with a plain bead to the top, a shaped plinth mount and a delicate pierced design. Pierced Brass Fender F94 Original quality, 1920's, small sheet brass fender with a pierced design, steel floor and bun feet to the front. Brass Fender F91 Original quality, 1920's, heavy cast brass fender/fire kerb with turned spindles mounted on a shaped kerb base, half round bar to the top and four finial mounts. An unusually heavy kerb, which has been polished, lacquered and is complete and in good and working order. Internal 48.4" x 11.75", external 53.5" x 14.5" + 7" tall. 	Steel Fender F90 Original quality, mid 19th century, sheet steel fender with applied steel decoration, fitted firedogs (used to rest fire irons shovels, tongs and poker upon) and bun feet to the front. The floor has been repainted and the remaining ironwork has been cleaned and lacquered. The floor can be removed by unscrewing the underside; the fender would then sit flat on the floor but the dogs and bun feet, being attached to the floor, would be lost. Brass Box Kerb F89 Original quality, 1920's, box fire kerb covered in sheet brass to the front and top, mounted with cast brass corner finials. The rear and undersides are clad in sheet tin. 	Pierced Brass Fender F88 Original quality, late 19th century, pierced brass fender with cast brass corner posts and top finials and cast brass top and bottom trims. The reverse of the corner mounts are impressed "Kendrick and Gibbons Patent" and the pierced decoration is in triangular panels. 	Pierced brass Fender F86 Original quality pierced brass fender, circa 1880/1900, of good proportions. 	Mirror Fire Screen F84 Original quality outstanding brass fire screen with a bevelled and shaped mirror panel insert. The mirror has a large star cut decoration to the centre and the original lead backing sheet to the reverse. The frame is very ornate in an Art Nouveau style and stands on two pairs of splayed legs. The reverse of the frame is stamped with the registration number for the year 1910, and all has been polished and lacquered. Some very minor blemishes to the mirror, one small chip to the edge of the mirror and another larger one to the bottom left hand corner, otherwise complete and in good order. Wirework Fender F83 Original quality, late 19th century, wirework fender with a steel floor and a brass top trim. 	Mirror Fire Screen F81 Original quality, brass framed fire screen, circa 1900, with a bevelled mirror panel with a central cut star motif and the original sheet lead backing. This fire screen stands on two pairs of feet, facing front to back and has a loop to the top for carrying. Some minor blemishes to the mirror but no chips. 	Arts & Crafts Copper Fire Kerb F56 Original quality, copper clad fire kerb with embossed decoration of three galleons chasing a stylised whale, circa 1900/1920's. Each galleon differs and they and the whale are all above a wavy sea scape. This serious Arts & Crafts kerb looks to be 'Newlyn' but is not marked. The sheet copper cladding is mounted on a wooden base with sheet tin to the underside. One or two minor repairs to the wear on high points otherwise all is complete and in good order. 	Muffin Fork C9* Original quality, 19th century, blacksmith made wrought iron three pronged fork with a tapered ferule, all mounted on a delicately turned stained lime wood shaft. 	Lister Carved Oak Bellows B6* Pair of original quality long oak, hand operated, fireside bellows, circa 1900/1920's. Completely refurbished with all replacement leather and brass studding but with the original brass spout retained. This unusual set of bellows is deeply carved to the top with a panel depicting a cottage with trees around and detailed beneath "Thomas Hardy's Birthplace". A maker's label is attached to the reverse of one long grip for "R.A Lister and Co Ltd Dursley England". A good restoration and all is now complete and in good and working order. Queen Fire-Lighting Fan B4 Original quality, 19th century, clockwork fire-lighting fan, with a cast iron body and a steel cover over the clockworks. Marked with the patent number 14985. This gadget would be hooked on the front bars of a fire or kitchen range and, after winding up the mechanism with the large side wingnut key and having soaked the wadding with meths., the fan would blow the flame forward into the fire (it actually shoots the flame forward by at least 6"). This would be left on the bars until the fire was alight. Pair of Cast Iron Mantel Ornaments MO15* Pair of original quality, late 19th century, cast iron mantel ornaments with both a left and a right handed version of a uniformed soldier mounted on a charging horse. The uniform resembles those worn in the Crimean War, so these ornaments may depict the famous Charge of the Light Brigade at the Battle of Balaclava in 1854. Both are embossed to the reverse with the registration number for the year 1894, 40 years after the battle. These have been cleaned and finished in a coat of clear lacquer. The one facing to the left did have an old repair using a rivetted section of iron plate, now removed and a new weld repair has been made to the reverse being barely visible from the front.
