Brass Horse Shoe Letter Clip LC14* Original quality, 19th century, desk top letter clip in the form of a cast brass horse shoe as the clip, sprung mounted on a similar shaped section of solid birdseye maple. Silver Mounted Horse Hoof Inkwell IW20* Original quality, late 19th century, hallmarked silver mounted racing horse hoof with a close hinged lid and a polished glass inkwell to the inside. The cap to the ink may not be silver but all the other mounts are hallmarked English silver, that is the top simulated hair mount with hinged lid and the thick silver hoof to the base. The lid is engraved with a wreath of oak leaves and 'Old George' to the centre, the text on the ribbons to the lower section of the wreath reads 'Nulli Secundis' in upper case. Onyx & Brass 4 Piece Desk Set IW19 Original quality, 4 piece brass desk set comprising a pair of candlesticks, a matching pen rest and inkwell, circa 1900/20's. The brass mounts are all in the original matt gilt finish and are mounted on the original onyx bases and both candlesticks retain their lift out sconces. The inner cap to the inkwell is engraved 'Bagshaw & Sons, Liverpool' for the manufacturer or retailer and the glass liner may well be a later replacement, otherwise all is original and complete and in good and working order, with just two tiny chips to the onyx base of the pen rest.
