	Cased Set of Surgical Instruments M90 Original, quality, fully fitted, mid 19th Century, mahogany case of twelve steel surgical instruments; seven short of the complete set of nineteen pieces, ten having ivory grips. Each instrument is marked for the maker 'Bigg' of London, who were surgical instrument makers in London from 1751 to 1859. What is here is all in superb condition, as is the box with side catches and a key. A great set of instruments, but a shame it's incomplete. Box 9.25" x 4.25" x 2". Price is for the set. Stodart Surgical Knife M87 Original, quality, steel surgical knife with ebony side covers; stamped to the blade for the maker 'Stodart'. J. 	Virtues Household Physician, 2 Vols M75 Two volumes of 'Virtues Household Physician' in red leather look bindings and illustrated with fold out manikins and half tone coloured plates. Ivory Handled Surgical Knife? M31* Original, quality, 19th century, superb steel knife with a bone saw edge to the leading top half of the blade. The shaped ivory handgrip has a carved bead around the neck and the blade is marked for the maker 'Goddard 202 Bishopsgate St'. I can find no trace of the manufacturer as a maker of surgical tools, but I feel in my bones this is a surgical knife. Please correct me if you know otherwise. 16.75" x 1.25" 1". 	Savigny Skull Saw M27 Original quality, 18th or 19th century, steel skull saw with ebony handgrip plates and stamped for 'Savigny', the London surgical instruments makers trading from 1720 to 1810. 	Trephine with One Blade M25 Original quality, mid 19th century, trephine for cutting a hole into the skull. This example is in superb condition with chequered ebony removable handle and the original lacquer to the brass stem. This would have been originally in a box with at least 2 other sized circular saw blades, but it has long been separated, otherwise it is complete and in superb order. 5.25" x 4". Chemist Pill Machine M12 Original quality, 19th century, mahogany three piece pill machine with brass and steel mounts, used in the chemist shop to hand make pills. Would have been used against the edges of the workbench/tabletop. This example is one of the largest we have seen and will roll and cut 36 large size tablets at a time. A replacement slide-out tray to the end has been made, copied from an original, all has been cleaned and polished and is complete and in good and working order. 	Zinc Elbow Splint M3 Original quality, 1920's, perforated zinc jointed elbow splint, with slots for the bandage ties and a brass wing nut and washer on the joint. Brass Counter Scales S133 Set of original, quality late 19th Century, grocer's shop, brass beam scales on the original mahogany base, with a stack of eight circular brass weights. This set of scales has a thin circular pan on an arm to one side, and a cast brass circular flat pan on chains to the other. The horizontal beam is stamped 'Class B', 'Capacity 4lb', 'Agate Balance' and 'Day & Millward Patentee' and the heavy pan has the remains of the name and 'Makers'. The eight weights are marked from 2lb down to 1/4oz and will enable up to 4lb to be weighed and the scale will dismantle easily into seven pieces, plus the mahogany base. The base has been refinished, the brass polished and lacquered and all is complete and in good and working order. A larger than average set of scales, for decoration or for use. 	Brass Counter Scales S132 Set of original, quality late 19th Century, grocers' shop brass beam scales on the original mahogany base, with a stack of seven flat brass weights. This set of scales has a brass scoop pan to one side and a cast flat pan on chains to the other. The horizontal beam is stamped 'Class B' and 'To Weigh 2lbs', and the flat pan 'Knowles and Son, London' for the maker. The weights are marked from 1lb to 1/4oz, these will enable up to 2lb to be weighed. This scale will dismantle readily into nine pieces, plus the mahogany base. The base has been refinished and the brass polished and lacquered and all is complete and in good and working order. A super set of original scales. Price is for the set, including the weights. 	Invalid Jelly Jar SJ63* Original, quality, 1920's, white glazed ceramic pot with transfer detail to the front and impressed 1/2 pint to the underside. The thermometer plate and the rod on the float are both engraved with the manufacture's name and address, as is the ivorine plaque to the top of the lid.
