	Boxwood Medicine Bottle Case T7* Original quality two piece turned boxwood bottle case, circa 1900/1920's, as used by veterinary surgeons and doctors when carrying medicine out on calls. A super piece of turned boxwood with a threaded joining section. Sadly the bottle has long gone but all is complete and in good order otherwise. Transfer printed details to the front for the retailer "H.P. 	Boxwood Bottle Case T5* Original quality two piece turned boxwood bottle case, circa 1900/20's, as used by veterinary surgeons and doctors when carrying medicine bottles out on call. A superb piece of wood turning with threads to join the top to the base. Sadly no bottle inside and sadly a grain split to the lid, but the lid does screw on well and is a superb example otherwise. Boxwood Thermometer T3* Original quality glass thermometer in a boxwood mount with brass fittings, circa 1900, and impressed with the makers name 'L.Sterne & Co Ltd Glasgow'. Champagne Tap CS73* Original quality, late 19th century, nickel plated on brass, champagne tap with control grips in the form of Prince of Wales Feathers, a decorative knurling to the spout and in the original morocco leather covered velvet lined case. The tap is impressed to one side for the manufacturer "S. Maw & Son London". The outer case has some scuffs to the leather but otherwise all is complete and in good order. The case has the original super little hook and eye catch. Champagne was originally used in small doses for medicinal purposes, hence the requirement for a tap which would permit the champagne to be drawn from the bottle without losing the fizz. Cast Iron Cork Squeezer CS1 Original quality, 19th century, cast iron chemists cork squeezer in the original paintwork and mounted on a wooden plinth. This example is embossed with the details for the manufacturer, 'Enterprise manufacturer Co Philadelphia USA' and 'No1 patented August 7 1867'. Surgeon's Saw M39 Original quality, 19th century, steel surgeon's saw with a coromandel grip. A good old repair to the wooden handgrip and a little pitting to the blade, otherwise all is complete and in good order. 	Amputation Saw M38 Original quality, late 18th century, steel amputation saw with a checkered ebony grip. Stamped to the frame 'KM63' and for the maker 'Charriere of Paris'. The original blade is a little pitted, otherwise all in complete and in superb order. Saws of this age and condition are hard to find out side of a cased set. 15" x 3.75". 	Pair of Leg Splints M34 Pair of original quality shaped wooden splints for a lower right leg, circa 1900/1920's. Can you believe, these were standard issue manufactured for the purpose. This is in a soft wood with leather straps and a thin canvas covering to the foot section. The leather is very dry and one piece has long gone, otherwise these are complete and in good order. Maw's Improved Inhaler, 2 available M33 Original quality, 1920's, white ceramic inhaler with a transfer label to the front detailing 'Maw's Improved Inhaler For Hot Water Infusion etc' and directions. 	Maws Double Valved Inhaler M32 Original quality, 19th century, 'Maws double valved inhaler'. Transfer printed flower decoration in blue with names etc. in ribbon swags on front and 'directions for use' panel on reverse. Complete and in good order. 9" tall, 5" widest diameter. Ivory Handled Surgical Knife? M31 Original quality, 19th century, superb steel knife with a bone saw edge to the leading top half of the blade. The shaped ivory handgrip has a carved bead around the neck and the blade is marked for the maker 'Goddard 202 Bishopsgate St'. I can find no trace of the manufacturer as a maker of surgical tools, but I feel in my bones this is a surgical knife. Please correct me if you know otherwise. 16.75" x 1.25" 1". 	Savigny Skull Saw M27 Original quality, 18th or 19th century, steel skull saw with ebony handgrip plates and stamped for 'Savigny', the London surgical instruments makers trading from 1720 to 1810. Surgical Knife M26 Original quality, early to mid 19th century, surgical knife with a steel blade, an adjustable steel fence and a chequered ebony pistol grip handle. 	Trephine with One Blade M25 Original quality, mid 19th century, trephine for cutting a hole into the skull. This example is in superb condition with chequered ebony removable handle and the original lacquer to the brass stem. This would have been originally in a box with at least 2 other sized circular saw blades, but it has long been separated, otherwise it is complete and in superb order. 5.25" x 4". Chemist Pill Machine M12 Original quality, 19th century, mahogany three piece pill machine with brass and steel mounts, used in the chemist shop to hand make pills. Would have been used against the edges of the workbench/tabletop. This example is one of the largest we have seen and will roll and cut 36 large size tablets at a time. A replacement slide-out tray to the end has been made, copied from an original, all has been cleaned and polished and is complete and in good and working order. 	Surgical Goods Mirror A25* Original quality, 1930's, circular advertising bevelled wall mirror detailing 'Johns Ltd, 25 Triangle Bournemouth' and 'Surgical Goods of Every Description'. Some loss of silvering around the edges and general blemishes to the mirror, but no chips to the glass. An unusual medical collectable. 12" diameter x 0.25". W&T Avery Doctors Surgery Scales S82* Original quality, 1920's, oak stand on scales with polished brass fittings and the original set of cup weights. The steel yard weighing principle is accurate to the ounce and the sliding upright height measure can be used to measure both children and adults using the steel screw in rod and reading the scale where marked with arrows, to the top of the main column. The main base platform and central column are in honey coloured oak, the front scale is marked down boxwood slips with a box wood central rod sliding up and down and the carpet panel also appears to be original. The brass was originally nickel or chrome plated but has now worn back to the brass and all has been polished and lacquered. The weights, when not in use, are stored in a small compartment to the left and rear of the floor section, see a lift up hinged lid. All is in superb and full working order and a great looker in any bathroom. The brass beam is impressed for the maker 'W&T Avery Ltd, Birmingham', and the cup weights are stamped to the top rim respectivly '16','8','4','2' and '1' stones. 	Bate's Saccharometer SI.1 Original quality, 18th or 19th century, Bate's patent saccharometer in the original mahogany box, manufactured by 'Buss, 33 Harton Garden, London'. The fitted interior is complete with the brass float, four brass counter weights and the thermometer mounted on a brass backplate. The thermometer plate and the rod on the float are both engraved with the manufacture's name and address, as is the ivorine plaque to the top of the lid. The lining to the interior is perished and the brass is in the old used finish, otherwise all is complete and in good order. Box 8" x 3" x 2". Click on photo for larger and other views. Stomach Warmer SW1 Original quality, 19th century, tinsmith made stomach warmer to be filled with hot water. A super thin shaped warmer with a brass ring handle, a brass screw on stopper and a brass maker's plate detailing 'William Schofield, Iron & Tin Plate Worker & Ventilator Manufacturer, 4 Station Street & 30 Lees Road Oldham'. 	Apothecary Jar BJ51* Original quality, late 19th century, pale blue ceramic chemists' dry drug jar and lid with a knop to the lid and an old chemists' paper label to the inside. Chemists Specie Jar BJ42* Original quality, 19th century, large glass chemist's specie jar with lid. This jar has some of the original interior decoration of Saint George on a horse, battling with the dragon, above 'Magnesia' with a white washed background colour overall. It seems a shame, but this jar would probably look better stripped back to the clear glass which is perfect with a superb rough pontil mark to the underside. Body diameter 10.5" x 2" high. Pair of Chemist's Shop Carboys BJ4* True pair of original quality, 19th century, chemist shop large freeblown clear glass carboys with matching pointed cut glass stoppers, good pontil marks beneath and the original circular mahogany window plinths. These are filled with coloured water and have been for some years and are both perfect in every detail. These were generally displayed in Chemist shop windows and if one views the underside of the plinths you will see grooves where they sat on 2 rails in the window, this would permit them to be moved along easliy out of harm's way when cleaning the inside of the windows or changing other window displays.
