Original quality, late 19th century, nickel plated on brass, champagne tap with control grips in the form of Prince of Wales Feathers, a decorative knurling to the spout and in the original morocco leather covered velvet lined case. The tap is impressed to one side for the manufacturer "S. Maw & Son London". The outer case has some scuffs to the leather but otherwise all is complete and in good order. The case has the original super little hook and eye catch. Champagne was originally used in small doses for medicinal purposes, hence the requirement for a tap which would permit the champagne to be drawn from the bottle without losing the fizz. This example is one of the best. Case 4.5" x 2.5" x 1", tap 4" x 2.25".

W&T Avery Doctors Surgery Scales S82*
Original quality, 1920's, oak stand on scales with polished brass fittings and the original set of cup weights. The steel yard weighing principle is accurate to the ounce and the sliding upright height measure can be used to measure both children and adults using the steel screw in rod and reading the scale where marked with arrows, to the top of the main column. The main base platform and central column are in honey coloured oak, the front scale is marked down boxwood slips with a box wood central rod sliding up and down and the carpet panel also appears to be original. The brass was originally nickel or chrome plated but has now worn back to the brass and all has been polished and lacquered. The weights, when not in use, are stored in a small compartment to the left and rear of the floor section, see a lift up hinged lid. All is in superb and full working order and a great looker in any bathroom. The brass beam is impressed for the maker 'W&T Avery Ltd, Birmingham', and the cup weights are stamped to the top rim respectivly '16','8','4','2' and '1' stones. Base 23 x 13", height with measuring rod down 53" and will measure up to 7ft high.

Original quality, 18th or 19th century, Bate's patent saccharometer in the original mahogany box, manufactured by 'Buss, 33 Harton Garden, London'. The fitted interior is complete with the brass float, four brass counter weights and the thermometer mounted on a brass backplate. The thermometer plate and the rod on the float are both engraved with the manufacture's name and address, as is the ivorine plaque to the top of the lid. The lining to the interior is perished and the brass is in the old used finish, otherwise all is complete and in good order. Box 8" x 3" x 2".

Original quality, 19th century, large glass chemist's specie jar with lid. This jar has some of the original interior decoration of Saint George on a horse, battling with the dragon, above 'Magnesia' with a white washed background colour overall. It seems a shame, but this jar would probably look better stripped back to the clear glass which is perfect with a superb rough pontil mark to the underside. Body diameter 10.5" x 2" high.

Pair of Chemist's Shop Carboys BJ4*
True pair of original quality, 19th century, chemist shop large freeblown clear glass carboys with matching pointed cut glass stoppers, good pontil marks beneath and the original circular mahogany window plinths. These are filled with coloured water and have been for some years and are both perfect in every detail. These were generally displayed in Chemist shop windows and if one views the underside of the plinths you will see grooves where they sat on 2 rails in the window, this would permit them to be moved along easliy out of harm's way when cleaning the inside of the windows or changing other window displays. All is complete and in good order. It is hard to find a pair of this size today. 27" high including stopper and plinth x 13" widest, plinth 2" x 12.25". Price is for the pair.
