	Brass Trench Art Jug SC100 Original, quality water jug, fashioned from a First World War German brass shell case. This plain example has a spout to the front, a strap handle to the rear and is stamped to the underside "Aug 1915" and "Patronen Fabrik Karlsushe". An unusual item of trench art, polished and lacquered, although the lacquer may be removed if required at no extra cost. Complete and in good order. Small Brass Shell Case SC99 Original, quality, Second World War, brass shell case. Stamped to the underside "1931/42" and with 'three standing rifles' emblem and also fitted with a military cap badge to the front. 	Trench Art Wine Coaster SC98 Original, quality, base of a World War One, German brass shell case fashioned into a bottle stand or wine coaster. The exterior is punch decorated with acanthus leaf designs, and the underside is stamped "1917" and "391, Polte, Magdeburg, SP406". All has been polished and lacquered, although the lacquer may be removed if required at no extra cost and is in good order. 4.75" base diameter x 5" top diameter + 2.75" tall. Trench Art Ashtray SC97 Original, quality, ashtray fashioned using the base of a Second World War brass shellcase. The sides are flared outwards and the underside is stamped "1944", "6 pr 6 curt MK III" and others . 	New Zealand Forces Trench Art SC96 Original, quality, heavy base of a World War One brass shellcase, now converted to an ashtray and mounted with a military brass button to the centre- to stub out cigarettes. The button details "New Zealand Forces" and the underside of the shellcase base is impressed "1928", "45in HOWr. Lot A241". Shellcase / Ashtray SC95 Original, quality, ashtray fashioned using the base of a Second World War brass shellcase. Three cigarette rests have been mounted to the top rim, a "Royal Artillery New Zealand" brass cap badge is fitted to the front and the centre pinhole is covered with a brass button embossed "New Zealand Forces". The underside of the shell is stamped "25 pr MK2 Blank", "NN2", "Lot 403", "1945" for the year and others. All is in good order and has been polished and laquered, although the lacquer may be removed if required at no extra cost. Shell base 4" diameter, 2.25" tall x 5" widest. 	Decorated Brass Shellcase SC93 Original, quality, brass shellcase decorated with a hand punched 'Trench Art' design of three pansy flower heads on a stippled background. Probably First World War, but possibly Second. The underside is stamped with various numbers, but no date. Trench Art Jug SC91 Original, quality, brass water jug, fashioned from a 1st World War brass shell case, with a handle constructed using brass shell cases. This example has a pouring lip to the front and an applied Royal Engineers cap badge and is stamped to the underside '18pr', 'Lot 2246' and '1917' for the year. Decorated Brass Shell Case SC85 Original, quality, brass shell case decorated with hand punched 'trench art' engraving. Probably 1st world war, but possibly 2nd. The design of a large, single flower with stem and leaves is to the front only, over an overall star punch design. The underside is stamped with various numbers, including '75 DEC', 'MGM 500L', but with no date or date code. Polished, lacquered and in good order. 	Pair of Decorated Brass Shell Cases SC83 A pair of original, quality, 'trench art' decorated with hand punched engraving and shaped, brass shell cases probably 1st world war, but possibly 2nd. The design of ivy leaves and berries are on one side only, over a beaten, dimpled finish and the undersides are stamped with details, including: '75 Dec', '97L07R', 'EF' and others, but no date reference. 1917 Decorated Brass Shellcase SC62 Original, quality, trench art hand punch engraved and shaped, 1st World War, brass shellcase. The design incorporates an animal and two maple leaves over a waisted ribbing. The underside is impressed '1917', '6 pr' and other letters and numbers. 	Pair of 1918 Decorated Brass Shell Cases SC57 Pair of original quality brass shell cases, each with applied cast brass Art Nouveau decoration to the front and a pair of side handles. Several stamps are apparent to the underside including '1918' '13 pr' and 'Lot 71 & 72'. The central firing cap sections have both been replaced. 	Pair of Trench Art Brass Shell Cases SC34 Pair of original quality brass shell cases from the 1st World War, 1914 - 1918, later decorated with punched details incorporating a heart, flowers, leaves and '1920'. This pair are also very waisted to the lower half, not an easy task. Generally referred to as 'Trench Art' with many numbers and references to the underside, see picture. 1897 Brass Cannister Shell SC30 Original quality British and Belgium 57mm brass cannister shell, originally containing shrapnel balls but now empty. Stamped to the underside '97' for the year 1897 and 'EP' for 'Ecole Pyrotechnice'. One old repaired split and some minor dents to the nose cone, otherwise in good order, polished and lacquered. 	Decorated Brass Shell Case SC20 Original quality, 15" tall, heavy brass shell case, probably 1st World War "1914 to 1918", with a "Trench Art" shaped top edge. Several minor dents to the sides, otherwise complete and in good order. 	Bakelite Money Box MB20 Original, quality 1920's, money box in the form of an artillery shell, with a screw off base, a thick brass washer and coin slot towards the top nose. Silver Plated Tankard M63 Original, quality 1920's/30's, half pint tankard, with a side handle and a military crest affixed to the front, with a lion on a crown above and detailed "Honi Soit L.V.Pense" and "Sancte et Sapienter" which translates to' Shamed be he who thinks evil of it' and 'With holiness and with wisdom'. 	Bronze Death Plaque M62 Original, quality, bronze medallion, as issued to the next of kin of all members of the British Troops killed in action during the first world war 1914 to 1918. Often referred to as 'A Death Penny', this example was awarded posthumously to 'John Boys' and is embossed around the outer edges "He Died For Freedom and Honour". 4.75" diameter. 1914 Princess Mary Brass Box M61 Original, quality, pressed brass tin in the original matt gilt finish, with an embossed hinged lid bearing a cameo of Princess Mary, two 'M' monograms and panels around it with the names of countries allied to Great Britain in the 1st World War; Belgium, Japan, Russia, Monte Negro, Serria and France. Complete and in good order. These brass tins, containing a variety of items dependant on the recipient, were given to all British troops serving overseas for Christmas 1914. The funds for these were raised by Princess Mary, daughter of King George V. Most but not all of the tins were issued with a pack of cigarettes, a pack of tobacco, a Christmas card in an envelope, a printed photo. of Princess Mary and a silver tipped brass shell case with a pencil inside. All items were marked with the monogram 'M' with a crown over. This tin is without contents. 3.5" x 5" x 1.25". Other polished examples may be available, ref M37. 	US Patent Button Board M60 Original, quality post war, sheet brass US patent button stick, as used when polishing buttons still attached to a uniform. Stamped to both sides "N.S.Meyer Inc, New York Patent Pending" and also to one side "All in One Button Board". The first we have seen. Has been polished and is complete and in good and working order. Officers Swagger Stick M59 Original, quality pre war, officer's swagger cane in bamboo, with a brass ferule to the tip and a nickel plated mount to the top. The mount is embossed with the regimental crest for the 'Royal Scots Fusiliers', with the thistle emblem and the crown over the cipher for King George VI. All in super condition. 28" x 0.5. 	Brass Button Stick M54 Original, quality, 1st World War brass button stick, as used to protect uniforms when polishing the brass buttons whilst still affixed. This example is stamped 'A, RBM, 17' and for the maunufacturer 'Smith and Wright, Birmingham'. WW1 Death Plate M50 Original, quality black transfer on coffee brown ceramic plate, manufactured during and after the 1st World War (1914 to 1918) for relatives to purchase and fix a photograph of their loved ones lost in the war. Good detail to the front with 'England Expects That Every Man Will Do His Duty And ____ Did His', and to the reverse 'England' and impressed '9' over '16'. Complete and in good order. 10" x 1.25". 1st World War Trench Saw M30 Original quality hand chain saw in a leather wallet as issued to the British Troops in the trenches during the 1st World War, 1914 - 1918. These saws were used for cutting down shoring timbers for the trench walls. This example is complete, all original and has the pair of wooden handgrips, with brass ferrules, the sharpening file and the saw wrest for adjusting the teeth. The brass grips to the steel saw are stamped 'Francis Wood & Sons Sheffield 1917', the wrest 'Newey & Sons Ltd', the file 'Burys & Co Sheffield' and the case 'Finchmarch Bros 1916'. 	1952 Vacco Flask M13 Original quality very clean example of a food vacuum flask, complete with the glass liner, cork stopper, tin lid and 'Directions' for use to the outside. The original black exterior finish is in super condition, as is the 'Directions' label. Embossed to the underside 'Vacco', '1952' and with the war department's arrow mark. Trench Art RAF Brass Ashtray TA1 Original, quality 1930's, brass ashtray with a matchbox holder to the centre, all trench art worked from brass with punch engraved decoration to the base and 'RAF' and 'ADEN' to the sides of the match holder. 	2 Horse Hoof Trimming Knives H34 Two original, quality, unused horse hoof trimming knives in steel, with animal bone handles. These were issued by the War Department, for use by the mounted army officers during World War 1, 1914 - 1918. Marked for the makers: left 'F. G. Pearson & Co, Sheffield' and 'Best Shear Steel 1914', right 'D. A. Argyle & Co, Sheffield' and 'Best Shear Steel 1915'. Complete and in good order. 7.25" x 1". Price is for each. Military Hat Tin HT17 Original, quality, late 19th Century, circular shaped, military hat tin with a raised conical hinged lid with a ring handle to the top, a hasp for a padlock and the original bronzed and patterned japanned paintwork. The inside has a hinged support to enable two hats to fit inside and the original bronzed finish. A great shape for a hat tin and complete and in good order. Base diameter 11.25" and 17" tall. 	Military Hat Tin HT15 Original, quality, late 19th Century, rectangular shaped, military hat tin with a stepped up hinged lid, a hasp for a padlock and a ring handle to the lid. General Foch Spelter Bust B1 Original, quality 1930's, continental spelter bust on a square green veined marble plinth. This example portrays 'General Foch' of the French Troops during World War One, with his uniform jacket and hat. The bust has an impressed signature "Coffin", to one side and the base has a brass plaque detailing "Foch 1851 - 1928". A super bust, in super condition and complete. 	Set of 3 Bayonet Fire Irons F319 Set of three original, quality, fireside tools comprising- tongs, poker and shovel, all made with re-fashioned, late 19th century, French bayonets. Each of the spines are engraved with detail and dated "1877 and 1879". All have matching wood and brass handles, with the locking mechanisms intact. The tongs were made using two bayonets and the shovel and poker have had extra sections added. These are known fire iron conversions, I have owned a few sets over the years, but they are not common. I understand a store of these bayonets were discovered in France during the 1920's and were later converted to fireside implements. Great looking fire irons, complete and in good and working order. Cast Iron Civil War Memorial Door Porter DP39 Original, quality, superbly detailed, cast iron door porter, we think issued to commemorate the end of the US Civil War; for the registration lozenge mark to the reverse is for the year 1865, and the Civil War was 1854 to 1865. The detail includes a sabre, a musket with bayonet, cannons and balls, flags and pennant lances and various other items, all mounted on a plinth with a wreath of laurel leaves to the top, in the form of a memorial. The reverse is impressed with the registration lozenge mark for the year 1865, 'No 183575' and '670'. Several very minor repairs have been made, all has been cleaned and lacquered and is complete and in superb order. 17.5" high, 9.5" wide at base and 5" front to back at base. 	Pair of Cast Iron Mantel Ornaments MO15 Pair of original quality, late 19th century, cast iron mantel ornaments with both a left and a right handed version of a uniformed soldier mounted on a charging horse. The uniform resembles those worn in the Crimean War, so these ornaments may depict the famous Charge of the Light Brigade at the Battle of Balaclava in 1854. Both are embossed to the reverse with the registration number for the year 1894, 40 years after the battle. These have been cleaned and finished in a coat of clear lacquer. The one facing to the left did have an old repair using a rivetted section of iron plate, now removed and a new weld repair has been made to the reverse being barely visible from the front. Both are now complete and in good order, an impressive pair of castings. Base 12.5", height 9.25" and 2" front to back. Price is for the pair. Click on photo for larger and other views. 1914/1919 Peace Mug CC76 Original, quality white ceramic mug, with a side loop handle and decorated to the back and front to commemorate the end of the 1st World War. The front has four flags of the allies, a dove of peace on a globe and "The Great World War 1914 - 1919". The underside is marked for the manufacturer "CWS Longton" and all is complete and in good order. 3.25" diameter x 3.25" tall + 4.75" front to back including the handle. 	6 Matching British Officers Teaspoons CC50 Six original, quality 1920's, matching, unused, silver plated teaspoons each bearing a different head and details of various British officers of the 1st World War and previous. 1. Lord Fisher and a Cameo of a British bulldog above 'The Navy' in upper case. 2. King George V and a cameo of Britannia, above 'The Empire'. 3. Admiral Beatty and a cameo of a warship, above 'The Navy'. 4. Earl Roberts and a cameo of an Indian Army Soldier, above 'India'. 5. Earl Kitchener and a cameo of a British Soldier, above 'The Army'. 6. Duke of Connaught and a cameo of a soldier, above 'Canada'. The reverse of the spoons are all marked 'Patent applied for, Birks EPNS' and have garlands of roses, shamrocks and thistles for England, Ireland and Scotland. Bullet Picnic Corkscrew CS122 Original, quality 1920's picnic corkscrew, with a sheath fashioned from a brass bullet, looks to be a 303. The sheath is tapered and will fit snugly into the loop on top of the corkscrew, and thus serving as a handle and when not in use the corkscrew will thread into the bullet sheath. All has been polished and lacquered, although the lacquer may be removed if required at no extra cost. Complete and in good and working order. Closed 4.5" x 0.5", open 3" x 3.25". 	War Time Cycle Lamp CL8 Original quality, 2nd World War, battery powered unused bicycle front lamp in the original green paintwork. The drop down visor would not show the light to the enemy bombers looking for directional clues such as roads. This lamp also has a carrying loop and a belt hook but requires a battery to work. Verners Sight Rule R34 Original, quality boxwood rule with fold down sides in brass and a lock on or off compass, secured with a brass cover engraved "W.H Harling London No144", "1901" and "WD". The underside has the manufacturer's details including "Verners Improved, Sight Rule" and the registration number for the year 1895. A superb boxwood gauge with its original brown leather case. 	WMF 3 Bottle Tantalus T4 Original, quality 1920's, silver plated tantalus, with a locking top cover, the original key and the three original cut glass decanters with stoppers. The underside is stamped for the maker "WMF" and the top section beneath the carry handle is engraved "Presented To Major E.R. O'Connor M.C. by NCO's and Men of C.Coy, on His Retirement After 36 Years Service" and "The Kings Own", with the lion passant. Not a chip or any damage to the three cut glass decanters or stoppers and no rubbing to the silver plate, in fact all is in super order, a good bright finish and complete. ARP Handbell B128 Original, quality, cast brass handbell, with the original turned beech handle and cast iron ball and chain clapper. The rim is impressed "ARP" for 'Air Raid Personnel', the brass ferrule is stamped "Fiddian" and the top of the bell "JB" for the maker 'James Barwell, of Birmingham' and "39" for the year 1939. This bell was provided for use by Air Raid Personnel to warn of air bombing raids overhead during World War Two. 'Fiddian' is the trade mark for the manufacturer of the bell 'James Barwell, of Birmingham'. All has been polished and lacquered, although the lacquer may be removed if required at no extra cost.
