Salter No 50 Family Scale S137 Original, quality, 1920's, cast iron domestic kitchen scale with a circular, white enamelled dial and a rectangular lift off steel pan. Much of the original green paintwork remains on the cast iron body and the enamelled face is in mint condition. This scale is adjustable by a thumb screw to one side and the dial is detailed 'Salter's Improved Family Scale No 50, to weigh 50lb by 2oz' and 'Made in England', with the knotted rope and arrow trademark for Salter's. Octave Hand Chimes B98 Original, quality, late 19th Century, hand held octave of nickel plated on brass bell domes, mounted inside each other on a central shaft, with a hanging hook to one end and a ribbed ebony hand grip to the other. This would need to be struck with a beater / hammer for no provision for clappers is evident. Two bells are cracked, but only one is dull, otherwise all is complete and in good and working order. Is this a musical instrument from an orchestra, or a novelty octave of bells? One would not want to hold it for very long as it is rather top heavy, the hook at the top, therefore, would enable it to be hung up temporarily whilst taking a rest. 14" long and 3.75" largest diameter. Brass Shoulder Plane P21 Original, quality, late 19th Century, cast brass shoulder plane in the 'Yorkshire Pattern', with the original steel 1 1/8" blade and rosewood infill and wedge. Shoulder planes were designed to clean rebates, shoulders of tenons etc, across the grain. This superb example has no maker's name, only the owner's name - 'T. Floor Standing Gong G76 Original, quality, 1920's/30's, floor standing dinner gong with a cast brass circular gong, suspended within a hooped oak stand. The main frame, in one piece of oak, is 4.25" x 1" thick and has a turned oak cross bar to the base. An old, turned, wooden handled beater of similar age is included and all is complete and in good and working order. The gong has a good tone and resonates well. Oak Corner Bookcase F143 Original, quality, 1930's/40's, oak corner bookcase unit, of two separate pieces. The lower section has a central cupboard with a drawer above and book shelf units away from both sides; these open fronted cabinets each have one adjustable shelf. The upper, glazed section has three sides to the front, the central one being a door, and has two removable shaped shelves. Both the tops of the glazed section and the base section are finished, so these two units can be used independently or one on the other as in the picture. Apart from the original oak faced plywood panels to the backs and the drawer bottom, all is in solid oak. Both the doors have ball catches and, apart from some minor ink stains to the left hand book shelf unit top and some old and now well treated worm holes to the ply back panel to the base unit, all is complete and in superb order. Has a small brass presentation plaque to the back of the door, which is dated 1942. Back of each wing 34", height of central unit of base 29", height of top cabinet 29.5", height of top of wing of base 25" and upper section 17" front to back into corner.
