Barclays Bank Money Box MB16 Original, quality, 1920's, nickel plated on brass, ovoid shaped money box with a lockable base unit and key, coin slots to the sides and a hole to the underside to take rolled up bank notes. These were issued by the banks and the top of this example is detailed for 'Barclays Bank Ltd No 24129 Home Safe' and to the underside with a patent number and 'June 11th 1921'. The coin slots are to the side and are for 'three pences' (silver type), 'six pences', shillings and pennies or half crowns. Why no provision for two shilling pieces or florins? This example, not only has the original key, but also the scruffy, but original card box. Money box 3.75" x 2.5" and 1.75" front to back, card box 4" x 2.75" x 2".
