The embossed top details a scene of an open landau pulled by four horses and the underside details 'By Appointment to His Majesty The King' and 'Grand Prizes Paris 1878 & 1900'. Rowntrees Coal Box Tin T24 Original, quality, 1920's/30's, novelty sweet tin in the form of a miniature coal box, with woodgrain effect to the surface and printed on handles and hinges. 'Rowntrees' is printed to the rear for the manufacturer of the original cachets sweets and one side pulls off - acting as a loose lid to gain access. Huntley & Palmers Biscuit tin T19 Original, quality pressed tin novelty biscuit tin issued in 1900. This tin is in the form of an artist's palette and in super condition with some minor rub marks to some edges and a small twist to the lid. The hinged top lid has a picture of a musician and has three simulated paint brushes in relief. The sides have various cameos of people and places. The underside is etched 'Huntley and Palmer, Biscuits, Reading and London'. Although reference books show this model with a front clasp this example shows no sign of ever having one. Impressed to the underside for the contents, 'Crawford's Delightful Biscuits & Shortbread', and, 'Crawford's Gingernuts Are Outstanding' all under the Royal Appointment coat of arms.
