Poachers Alarm Original, quality late 19th century blacksmith made wrought iron and cast iron poachers alarm. This was loaded with a blank cartridge staked in the undergrowth, and wired to a trip wire and when tripped by an unsuspecting poacher the weight was released to drop on the firing pin to set off the blank cartridge. All is complete and in good order.

This example, the first we have seen, has an oval shaped steel frame with the nickel gauge plate to the centre with a shaped needle to register. It is used by placing it in the palm of one's hand and squeezing as hard as possible. It actually works and appears complete.

Miniature Cast Iron Mincer Original, quality 1920's continental cast iron shelf mounted food mincer of small proportions. This super example, the first we have seen, will dismantle into pieces for cleaning after use and has the original turned wooden handle and adjustable table clamp. County Insurance Agency Plaque Original, quality 1920's, painted tin firemark, with Brittania and a lion above "County", mounted onto a shield shaped oak backboard for wall hanging. This backboard is impressed and gilded to the top "Agency Of" and beneath "Fire, Burglary, Accident, Motors etc". Some surface scratches to the background of the tin plaque, otherwise complete and in good order.

Steam Bath Cabinet Original, quality late 19th century panelled pine sit in steam cabinet with four side panels, a two door hinged sloping top with a hole to the centre for ones head with a shelf for a glass of water and an aperture to the top with a sliding cover for one's hand. The interior has a vent with a control gate to release the steam when too hot and a replacement pine seat board which can be adjusted in height. The brass cabin hooks are old replacement and all has been cleaned and waxed and has retained much of the original cream coloured paintwork. A most unusual item in super condition. An original J. Foots patent Copper Methylated Spirit burner and heater, manufactured for use with this style of steam bath, may well be available ref code: HS19.

Original, quality pair of five branch cast brass candelabras circa 1900, in the 18th century style. The bases are as single candlesticks with a double layered plinth and shaped stems and would work as a pair of single candlesticks. The upper five candle sconces are set as four level branches each with one candle holder and one central to match but taller. Each of the five sconces have the original square brass drip pans, the upper central stem matches the lower stem beneath, and the top cluster of five will lift off if required. Some good repairs and now all complete and in good and working order and polished and lacquered, although the lacquer may be removed at no extra cost. A most unusual pair of candelabras.

GKN Screw Display Original quality 1950's bolt and screw display as supplied to the larger ironmongers for an advertising display board. This very clean example has a deep pale wood frame and is detailed for the supplier and manufacturer "Guest Keen and Nettlefolds (Midlands) Ltd Screw Division", otherwise referred to as 'GKN'. The logo 'a castellated keep' for the company is also in the centre of the display surrounded by several hundred items set out in starburst patterns. A great piece of advertising not readily found today. All original and in good order.

Original, quality, 19th century sheet brass tobacco dispensing box. Originally used in Taverns and Ale Houses on bar tops or tables, permitting the smoker to obtain a pipeful of tobacco for 1d. Although often referred to as Georgian, this model will only take a penny of the type used in the Victorian period or later. The rectangular box is mounted on four ball feet and has two hinged lids. The left hand compartment beneath the slot is for the coins and can only be opened with the key, the right hand compartment is for the tobacco and can only be accessed by placing a 1d coin in the slot or when the left hand side is unlocked. Smokers wishing to gain access to the tobacco would put a penny in the slot, press down the button and the lid of the tobacco compartment would spring open. One was trusted to shut the lid when a pipeful was taken, or a fine would be made, hence the nickname "Honesty Box". The loop handle to the centre of the top is well positioned for a balanced lift and the steel key is an old replacement altered to suit. A superb, honesty box, complete and in good and working order with ten old pennies included. 7" tall including handle.

Original, quality superb matching pair of warthog skulls on oak shields circa 1910 / 1920's mounted by "H. Murray and Son of Cairnforth". The original well detailed paper labels for the Taxidermists Murray and Son is fixed to the reverse of both the matching oak backboards. The larger male skull has two small teeth missing from the front, but the other female skull has a complete set of teeth, and the male has the tip of one of the larger tusks missing, lost no doubt during battles during its life. A great looking pair of skulls with good shields and labels. The best we have seen.

Original, quality late 19th century copper powder flask with a brass top mount. This near mint condition flask is in a matt copper finish showing very little if any use. The body is covered with an embossed design of rope netting with a cameo of a brace of hanging game birds to the front. The brass top mount again in a matt finish has four adjustments in drams and the maker's mark "G & JW. Hawksley Sheffield". A very elaborate example in super condition and complete and in good and working order.

Original, quality late 19th century three piece set of cream coloured ceramic tilting Ewer on a stand with matching rectangular shaped Basin / Wash bowl. The stand is embossed to each side and gilt lining to the edges and the basin and ewer have matching transfer floral decoration of pale purple and pink clematis type flower and leaves and both the ewer and bowl are impressed to the underside with the registration number for the year 1891. Some minor stains to the interior of the basin and one lug restored to the pivot area of the ewer. A really super tilting wash basin set the first we have seen of this model and ready for use.

Each bolt backplate has nine countersunk screw holes for mounting and each keep has three. These unusually long superb quality bolts have shaped ends to the both the bolts and keeps and shaped brass finial grips on the iron rod bolts, also for strength, the backplates are double skinned with the an iron plate behind. Oak Purdonium Original, quality late 19th century oak purdonium (coal box) in the aesthetic movement style. This most unusual example in honey coloured oak has inlays of pewter plaques within the stylised arrowroot heads to the sides and back as part of the fretted out design. The pull down front reveals the galvanised liner for the coal and an old replacement brass shovel; the front panel has carved decoration with a brass pull handle and a pair of decorative brass hinges and the back panel to the cabinet has a carved detail also. All has been cleaned and refinished and is complete and in good and working order.

Original, quality, early 19th century, all brass larger than average surface mounted door lock, with a replacement keep made to suit and a replacement key cut to fit. This superb example has a sliding brass knob operated from the inside of the room only and a key lock operated from both inside and out. The handle slide and key operate the same tongue and the key overides the handle action. Fully overhauled, polished and lacquered, although the lacquer may be removed at no extra. A super lock, the first we have seen of this form in brass. Incidentally apart from the springs all the internal mechanism is in brass.

Rival No.2 Apple Peeler Original, quality, late 19th century, cast iron mechanical apple peeler. One of the largest models produced and made for the hotel, catering and canning industry. This example is embossed "Rival No.2", "96", "Patented, June 25 1889" and was manufactured and patented in the USA. This hand operated machine would be screwed to a table or bench and will speedily treat an apple with all necessary to peel, spiral cut and remove the core and ultimately ejecting the spiral of apple and core as separate actions, one cut with a knife and the spiral becomes segments. All is complete, fully overhauled, cleaned and lacquered and it has to be seen working to believe how quickly it will process an apple.

This most unusual heater has five pieces plus the original copper measure / filling cup. The five pieces comprise the heater body in two pieces the vessel for the water to boil into create steam, the reservoir for the meths with triple burners and the wick snuffer for the same. All has been polished and lacquered, although the lacquer may be removed at no extra cost, fully overhauled and should work if required.

Original, quality, late 19th century, superb brass urn shaped oil side lamp, with a lift out font and styalised serpent side handles, all mounted on a block brass pedestal. Three sides of the pedestal are embossed and engraved with designs of grapes, vines and leaves and the other is detailed "Presented to John Hanna Esq J.P. by the Ashton Under Lyne Caledonian Association, July 21st 1896. Burns Centenary". The main body is profusely embossed and engraved with designs of grapes, vines and leaves as on the pedestal, and the lift out font has a reeded design to match that on the foot of the urn. The twin 1" wick oil burner is a top of the range 'Hinks' burner in brass, with a white ceramic button to the wick control and marked "Hinks Duplex No 2" and has a gallery lifting device to enable the lamp to be lit without removing the shade or chimney. This burner has the side lug attachments to lock onto the top collar and is stamped "Hinks and Sons Patent". The glass chimney is included in the price but the shade is not and is no longer available. All is polished and lacquered, although the lacquer may be removed if required at no extra cost. A very unusual oil lamp with an interesting dedication. Complete and in good and working order.

Original, quality heavy brass loo door lock set, circa 1900 complete with all the necessary pieces. This lock was manufactured for use with 6d but will also operate using new 1p coins. The main body is impressed for the manufacturer "Lockerbie and Wilkinson Ltd Tipton Staffs" and all has been fully overhauled polished and lacquered, although the lacquer may be removed at no extra cost. This lock is designed to be mounted on the outside of an inward opening door and is handed. When the coin is inserted, the locked door can be opened and when the bolt is drawn across on the inside, another coin will not be accepted for another person to enter. Only when the bolt is drawn back on the inside, can another person gain entry. Each time the bolt is operated the indicator will change vacant to engaged or vice verca. All the fitting are original with the exception of the keys and the keep for the bolt these have been made to suit and now all is complete and in good and working order. A super brass loo lock.

Original, quality set of seven matching late 19th century brass intercom bells, a variety of sizes but all are matching. These examples have brass mounts, steel springs and a decorative brass central boss and are often now referred to as "Downtown Abbey Bells". Can be pulled from either left or right and are for use with a tight wire, non-electrical bell system. Other parts required to operate this system are usually available in stock. The mounting plates, rear springs and central bosses are replacements, copied from an original and have been made to suit. The ironwork has been cleaned and repainted black and the brass polished and lacquered, although the lacquer may be removed at no extra cost. Fully overhauled and complete and in good and working order.

Butchers Stoneware Ox Tongue Tub Original, quality late 19th century barrel shaped cream coloured glazed stoneware storage tub originally used to store cured ox tongues in Butchers' Shops. This example has been manufactured to accurately resemble a barrel with faux slats and bands and a hole to the base for a tap and cup handles to each side. The interior is glazed in pale blue and has two minor short hairline cracks from the top (see picture), all is complete and in good and working order otherwise. The top is fitted with a lift off and hinged pine lid with cast iron hinges and steel pull handle.Very heavy and only the second one we have seen.

Original, quality 1920's good sized brass electric hall lantern in the Moorish style with a square body with canted corners and shaped windows. Replacement frosted glass panels have been fitted to the eight side panels and the underside and has been rewired with modern three core silk covered flex and a new brass UK bulb holder. Fully overhauled, polished and lacquered, although the lacquer may be removed at no extra cost. Replacement brass ceiling rose and length of brass chain is included and all is complete and in good and working order.

Original quality late 19th century superb cast brass fishing reel with a cowhorn side grip and much of the original green bronzed finish. This example has a swivel spool for casting and is impressed "Malloch's patent" for the manufacturer Malloch's of Perth Scotland. Complete and in good and working order.

Original, quality post-war wall mounted thermometer issued by "Bass & Co". This example is mounted on a rectangular shaped beech backboard with an arched top and transfer detailed with temperatures and bottling dates. The plates and grille cover to the glass tube are in brass and have been polished and lacquered, although the lacquer may be removed at no extra cost, as are the mounting plates. Some wear to the varnish finish, otherwise complete and in good and working order.

Original, quality pair of late 19th century very decorative cast brass door handles, with a threaded standard square bar and grub screw adjustment system to fit both mortice and rim locks and latches. Replacement circular plain brass backplates have been made to suit. This super pair have curled under acanthus leaf forms radiating outwards from the central flower head. Each backplate has two concealed countersunk screw holes for mounting. Complete and in good and working order.
