Original, quality 1920's, unused ice cream wafer holder in the original two piece card box. The lid of the box is printed "The Original 3 in 1 Ice Cream Wafer Holder" and directions for use and cleaning. The box and the holder are impressed "Sheffield England" and registered "Ergos". The box is a little torn and scuffed, but complete and the wafer holder is in mint condition with perfect nickel plating and no scratches or wear, just as an unused one should be. In good working order if wanted to be.

Original, quality, late 19th century, Scottish white ceramic bowl with a rolled over top rim and a large black transfer printed "K" to the front. The upper cased "K" is decorated within with thistles. Difficult to find perfect ones of these today and this one is. Complete and in good order.

5ft Brass Bedstead

Original, quality, circa 1880/1900, superb, all brass five foot wide bedstead. Old five foot examples are hard to find and this is a beauty, in square tubed brass with a cast fretted brass panel to the front and four urn shaped finials, all mounted on the original castors with ceramic wheels. The original wrought iron side irons are included and all has been polished and lacquered and is complete and in good order. This bedstead will take a standard 5ft wide x 6.6" long modern bed base and mattress. Some minor rubs to the lacquer for this was polished and lacquered several years ago.

Original, quality, circular brass ashtray, circa 1900, with a beaten finish, two cigarette rests and a large Ruskin ceramic panel to the floor. The underside shows most of the original nickel plating which has rubbed off the upper surface and showing the brass. A most unusual ashtray from a serious Arts and Crafts period. No chips, cracks or damage. Polished and lacquered, although the lacquer may be removed at no extra cost.

Original quality, late 19th century, cast brass double photo frame with fine mouldings to the outer frame and pediments of ribbons knotted over laurel leaves. The frame outer design is of laurel leaves, the next reeded and in the inner egg and dart. This double frame is hinged to the middle presumably to fold for travel or storage and the separate slide down and out backpanels, in sheet brass, each have a hinged brass rod backstand. Two top rings are also mounted to the reverse for alternative wall hanging. All has been lacquered. A super quality photo frame of an unusual form.

Single Moose Antler

Original, quality, huge single Moose antler, circa 1900 / 1920's. Obviously originally one of a pair, but interestingly this example was shed naturally as many other types of deer do annually when an adult. These are known as 'cast' / dropped. This super example has some natural tip damage and a plugged hole where it had been drilled for wall mounting in the past, but now been plugged with a peg of antler. All is complete and in good order, but still a single one only. Would make an ideal fruit bowl on a large table.

Original, quality 1920's, superb mounted and cased Kestrel in a lifelike pose about to land on the kill, a Chaffinch. This case, glazed to three sides, is as the day it was mounted with the most lifelike groundwork and foliage, the background in yellow fading to peach colour is typical of this very clever taxidermist "Ralph Allder of Bartholomew St Newbury" (Berkshire). His label can be seen to the lower right of the backboard inside the case. The outside of the case has been cleaned and re-painted black but otherwise all is completely original. This case cannot be faulted in any aspect.

Original, quality, late 19th century, 'soup bowl' shaped engraved brass alms bowl. The upper surface has been polished and lacquered, although the lacquer may be removed at no extra cost and the underside has retained the patinated finish. The engraving has taken up most, if not all the upper surface with "IHS" to the dished centre surrounded by six bunches of grapes with leaves. The outer ring is again engraved in great detail with the text in lower cased Gothic type detailing "Be Ready To Give and Glad To Distribute". All in super condition.

Original, quality, late 19th century, cast brass door knocker of the dropped loop form. This superb example is stamped to the reverse for the maker "R E & S" and has retained a good colour to the reverse. Replacement nuts and bolts have been fitted, all has been cleaned and is complete and in good and working order.

Original, quality, late 19th century, corinthian column brass standard lamp originally oil and now converted to electric. This super example has a good reeded column on a cast brass square base, with block feet and a cast brass corinthian top mount. Rewired with modern three core silk covered flex, a new brass switched UK bulb holder and a three pin plug. Although the wire shade holder is included, the shade is for display only. This lamp, adjustable in height is fixed at 60", but can be adjusted on request. Polished and lacquered, although the lacquer may be removed at no extra cost. Fully overhauled, complete and in good and working order.

Pair of original, quality, late 19th century, blacksmith made, surface mounted wrought iron door bolts with replacement keeps made to suit. These most unusual bolts have shaped rings to retain the bolt to the backplate and a matching grip finial to the handles. Each plate has six countersunk screw holes for mounting and the keep has two. Cleaned and lacquered, although the lacquer may be removed at no extra cost, complete and in good and working order.

Original, quality, late 19th century, 'D' shaped overmantel with the original mirror glass and white ceramic bun feet. This very, very clean and all original overmantel has a flecked wood grain finish to the frame and a black inner bead also in plaster, with gold star details down the full length. The original pine backing boards have been retained and the mirror is very clean. On reflection a good clear overmantel.

Original, quality, common carp mounted in a bow fronted glazed wall cabinet, probably 1920's / 30's. A good specimen well presented, with realistic groundwork, reeds and grasses. The bow fronted panel has a gilt edge, but no details of the fish, when and where caught, or the taxidermist. All is in good order, with the bow front and two end glasses intact and the case has been retaped and repainted. Complete and in good order.

Original, quality, late 19th century, Swiss 'Black Forest' carved wood, wall mounted hat and coatrack. This superb all wood example has a Chamois head and neck to the centre, with oak leaves and branches behind and beneath, incorpoating a hanging loop to the top and three pegs to the front. All is realistically carved, with the horns painted black and the original glass eyes. Quite the best I have seen for a while. Some good repairs to the tips of some oak leaves and the horns. Now complete and in good order. A delicate but sturdy and usable hat and coatrack.

Original, quality 1920's, honey coloured oak swivel office chair with good webbing and horse hair filling beneath the original pale coloured leather upholstered seat. All has been fully overhauled, refinished and is complete and in good and working order. The rear of the seat is impressed "GFS" either for the maker of the chair or a previous owner.

Original, quality, late 19th century, brass intercom bell with all the original brass mounts, steel springs, central ceramic and brass boss and the original matching swinging pendulum. This example, often now referred to as a Downton Abbey bell is impressed "4 + S" and "12" to the top of the bell and can be pulled from either left or right. This example is for use with a tight wire, non-electrical bell system. Other parts required to operate this system are usually available in stock and other similar bells may also be available on request. So hard to find the pendulum. All has been fully overhauled, the ironwork has been repainted and the brass polished and lacquered, although the lacquer may be removed at no extra cost. Complete and in good and working order.

Original, quality, late 19th century, brass hall lantern with the original coloured glass leaded panels. This super light fitting was originally gas and is now converted to electricity and has been wired with modern three core flex and a new brass UK bulb holder. Each glass panel has a clear ovoid shaped cut glass centre and each corner of the lamp has a copper roseatte. All is perfect with not a chip or crack in sight and a length of new brass chain and an old brass ceiling rose is included. The brass has been polished and lacquered, although the lacquer may be removed at no extra cost. Fully overhauled, complete and in good and working order.

Original, quality, superb circular copper teapot, circa 1900, with a brass handle, spout and lid which has a horn finial grip and a good tinned interior. This teapot is stamped to the underside "WAS Benson" for the designer and manufacturer and has all the style obvious to Benson. One small dent to the underside, otherwise all is complete and in superb order. Polished and lacquered, although the lacquer may be removed at no extra cost. This is the first we have seen of this model.

Set of 6 Guinness Buttons
Set of six, original, quality, waistcoat buttons, with glass fronts, brass backs and eyes in the original card box. These sets of buttons were issued by Guinness as a promotional item in the 1950's. The lid is labelled to one end "Guinness Waistcoat Buttons" and the original card insert is detailed "With The Compliments of Guinness" and "Made in England". Each button contains a different Guinness character, a toucan, a kangaroo, a sealion, a tortoise each with a pint, an ostrich with a pint in its gullet and the zoo keeper also with a pint. Each button is also impressed "Guinness" to the reverse. The lid of the box is a little scuffed and torn, but otherwise all is complete and in good order.

Original, quality, late 19th century, folding mahogany boot jack for pulling off boots, fitted to the interior with a pair of folding steel boot pulls, one with a button hook for gaiters and boots and the other with a leather holepuncher for repairing. Original, quality 1920's / 30's, brass megaphone / loud hailer with an integral whistle. Possibly used by the rowing cox or similar. This example, the first we have seen, is in amazing condition with no dents or scratches and has a shaped guard for the mouthpiece, a whistle set at a convenient angle below and a ring for a cord, to wear around the neck. All has been polished and lacquered, although the lacquer may be removed at no extra cost. Complete and in good and working order.

Original, quality 1920's / 30's, double sided hanging enamel sign, with white upper cased "RAC" to both sides on a pale blue background and with a white border. This sign has two holes to the upper section, originally for the wall bracket and two smaller holes to the lower border for an additional information sign, such as breakdown, services or for a directional arrow. Generally a very clean and bright sign, with some chips to the enamel to the upper bracket holes only. Complete and in good order.

Original, quality, late 19th Century, copper ale muller of an unusual form - it appears to be a hybrid shape; half a donkey's ear and half a slipper form. This shape we have not seen before; it's of the highest quality, in thick grade copper with good tinning to the interior, and another bonus is the maker's name stamped on the loop handle - 'John James Monmouth'. Polished, lacquered and in superb order. The lacquer can be removed upon request, at no extra cost.

Original, quality, most unusual very large late 18th / early 19th century, copper washing copper, probably from a laundry of a large country house. This example with super riveted seams and a flat top rim has the original unpolished patinated green finish to the exterior and hard water limescale to the interior. The top 2" and the flat rim in brass, again in the old green colour. One copper patch to the lower section, probably to fill in the original tap hole and one split to the top flange, otherwise all is complete and in super order.

This superb sign is bright and clean with just a few very minor chips to the enamel, eight screw holes for mounting and a photo of John Ginger with two packets of biscuits under his arm. The lower section is also detailed "Reading and London England" and "Made in England". Complete and in good order.

This example has a vented central ball shape with a pointed tapered shaft above and a circular shoulder to the base with two holes for bolting on. Original, quality, mid to late 19th century, coloured meat paste pot lid, with the original but discoloured base pot. This brightly coloured example depicts two youths scrapping with a crowd of on-lookers and is entitled "The Wolf and The Lamb". The lid does show some faint crazing, but is otherwise perfect and the base is partly discoloured but again good otherwise.

Original, quality 1920's, all brass, flat sided oil can with a plunger action, a loop handle and a long spout with a replacement nipple cover. The body is impressed "No 40 Oiler" to one side, "Joseph Lucas" to the other, "Unscrew To Open" to the filler cap at the top and has the registration number for the year 1919 to the underside. All has been fully overhauled, polished and lacquered, although the lacquer may be removed at no extra cost. Complete and in good and working order.

Art Nouveau Oil Side Lamp

Original, quality, oil side lamp of an unusual form, with a cast iron base, a pale pink tinted clear, cut glass font and a brass screw in twin 1" wick burner and gallery. The base has three cast iron supports on a shaped cast iron plinth, all in a serious Art Nouveau style and is impressed to the underside and each leg with the registration number for the year 1905. The glass font has two bands of cut decoration and the brass burner has black ceramic inserts to the wick controls detailing "Youngs No.1 Screw". The brass and ironwork have been cleaned and lacquered and all is complete and in good and working order. The burner and gallery will take a standard 3.75" base diameter oil shade and a standard 2.5" base diameter chimney. See our "Oil Lamps" section for current stock of similar items.

Original, quality, late 19th century chair with the original inset enamel advert to the back. These chairs were used in ironmongers' and grocers' shops for customers' use whilst waiting or being served. Difficult to find these days and this superb example in fruitwood is stamped in three places to the woodwork "Registered Design F.East Dundee" and the super clean enamel sign in blue and white details "Watson's Matchless Cleanser Is The Best Soap For All Purposes". One side stretcher in oak is probably an old replacement, but otherwise all is original and in good and usable order with a recent clean and wax.

Original, quality, 19th Century, large spherical shaped, off white ceramic door pull knob with a decorative, petal shaped, cast brass backplate. This handle will not turn a lock or latch, only pull the door closed. The backplate is stamped with the registration lozenge mark for the year 1867 and all is complete and in good and working order.

Original, quality 1920's, superb cast brass electric side lamp with great detail in the form of beading and acanthus leaves. The tapered reeded stem is mounted on a circular base and topped with more acanthus leaves. Has been rewired with modern three core silk covered flex, a new brass UK bulb holder, switch and a three pin plug. Original, quality 1920's, adjustable brass electric reading / side light with a slender square section central stem mounted on a weighted cast brass circular base, a shaped finial to the top, a sliding up and down neck and collar with a switched bulb holder. Has been rewired with modern three core silk covered flex, a new brass UK bulb holder, switch and a three pin plug. Fully overhauled, polished and lacquered, although the lacquer may be removed at no extra cost and complete and in good and working order. A pleasing delicate design. Original, quality 1920's, hanging electric light fitting with a cylindrical opaline coloured glass fitted within a cast brass lantern frame, with a decorative domed top section and a pierced lower section. The top and bottom sections are joined with six brass rods and a replacement brass ceiling rose fitted with an oliver gripper is included. A superb lantern in the Arts and Crafts manner. Rewired with modern three core silk covered flex and a new brass UK bulb holder, fully overhauled, polished and lacquered, although the lacquer may be removed at no extra cost. Complete and in good and working order.

Pair of original, quality, probably 1st World War, polished brass shell cases, hand 'trench art' decorated to the upper section with embossed designs of flowers and leaves, with a flared, wavy top rim and a reeded waisted form to the lower section. The underside has a variety of marks including "75 DEC", "PD, PR 2316" and all has been polished and lacquered, although the lacquer may be removed at no extra cost. Complete and in good order.

Has been rewired with modern three core silk covered flex and a new UK brass bulb holder, and a length of new brass chain and a new replacement brass ceiling rose is included. All has been fully overhauled, polished and lacquered and is complete and in good and working order. The lacquer can be removed upon request, at no extra cost.

This example is detailed in white upper cased text "Thames Conservancy, Private Pleasure Vessel Registration number 3132" and "Renewable in 1905". Some minor chips but otherwise complete and in good order, good for such an early date. The reverse has been cleaned and lacquered.
