Frys Shop Display Cabinet Original, quality, all glazed "Frys Chocolate" shop counter display cabinet, circa 1900. This super cabinet in walnut has sliding glazed doors to the rear, acid etched glass to the front detailing "Frys Choice Chocolate" in upper cased text and The Royal Coat of Arms to the centre detailed "By Special Royal Appointment", a loose mirror glass to the floor and two clear glass shelves. The shelves and mirror are replacements made to suit. The plinth to the front is engraved / carved "J.S.Fry and Sons Ltd". The original paper label detailing "This case is the property of J S Fry and Son" is still affixed to the underside. A geat looking and useful cabinet and a good clean example.

Original, quality, late 19th century, 8 pint copper kettle with lid and embossed and engraved detail to the shoulders. The lid has an acorn finial and the detail to the shoulders is "Good Luck" to one side surrounded with leaves and a horseshoe, with leaves and berries to the other. The underside is impressed with the logo for the manufacturer "William Soutter of Birmingham" and "8" for the size. The internal tinning is in good order and all has been polished and lacquered, although the lacquer may be removed at no extra cost and is in very usable condition. Most unusual to find decorated copper kettles.

Original, quality pair of superb, very clean 1920's enamel, advertising signs in 'Royal Blue on white text detailing "Fry's Pure Cocoa" on a blue shield to one and "Fry's Celebrated Chocolate" to the other. Both are also detailed "300 gold medals" and "Makers to T.M The King and Queen and Queen Alexandra". The lower edge of both are detailed in tiny text "Chromo Wolverhampton" for the sign manufacturer and "J.S Fry and Son Bristol". Some blemishes and chips to the edges and ten screw holes to each for mounting. A wonderful pair of bright and clean.

Original, quality, late 19th century, ovoid shaped pressed tin tea tray, with a shaped outer edge and a decorated topside. The decoration is in the form of four panels of handpainted flowers within gilded frames around the outer flange, and a central back panel, also with a gilded border. The general background is a buff green colour and the reverse is in all black japanned, with some small painted reference numbers "1159" and "01822". Some scuffs and scratches and small patches with the decoration missing, but otherwise a superbly decorated toleware tray. All original with no signs of touching up.

Original, quality, First World War, brass shellcase with detailed punched 'trench art' decoration with a shield to the front "1914 Reims 1918" and birds on a branch to the reverse. The brass chain and ceiling rose with a hook are new replacements and a length of new silk covered three core electric flex with a new brass bulb holder is brass and has been polished and lacquered, although the lacquer may be removed at no extra cost and all has been fully tested and is complete and in good and working order.

Original, quality, late 19th century, large chest of drawers. Each drawer front has beaded edges and the original brass drop handles. All has been cleaned and refinished to the original colour. This chest is of unbelieveable condition and quality and the total construction, with the exception of the back panel, is all in solid ash. The top edge of the right hand drawer is stamped for the manufacturer "Maple and Co" and all shows are no signs of use. The best chest of drawers we have had for a long time.

Tantalus with Jewellery Drawer Original, quality, late 19th century, tantalus with three matching hobnail cut glass mini decanters in a honey coloured oak stand, with a pull out jewel drawer with lock and key to the base. The bottle stand is mounted with a lockable swivel top and carry handle. The Bramah lock to one end is impressed with a crown and "Betjemanns Patent 45717" and the other end again with a crown and "The Tantalus". The drawer unit to the base is mounted with four decorative metal mounts and the drawer has a matching keyhole surround. All the metal mounts, the swivel top and locking mechanism were originally silver plated, but much has worn through, showing the brass from underneath these have now been lacquered. The jewellery drawer is fully lined in pale blue shot silk and royal blue velvet and has a ring section to the front. The key to the drawer and the key to the bramah lock are both replacements made to suit and the underside has the original pink velvet covering and a scruffy but legible label detailing instructions for use. A chip to one of the shoulders on one glass decanter, otherwise all is complete and in superb order and fully functional. A most unusual and attractive item of the highest quality, the first we have seen.

Original, quality 1920's hanging electric light fitting manufactured by Jefferson of Canada for the UK market. This superb fitting, the first we have seen, has a downward facing moulded opaline glass shade, with a small bowl shade of the same glass suspended just beneath. The shade holder, ceiling rose and the lower bowl fittings are all in the original unpolished bronzed and oxidised finish. A length of replacement chain of a similar colour has been included. Has been re-wired with modern three core flex and a new brass UK bulb holder fitted and fully overhauled. Complete and in good and working order.

Highland Deer Slops Pail Original, quality, late 19th century, sepia decorated off white ceramic slops pail with the original lid and woven cane handle. This slops pail was originally part of a ewer and basin toilet set and both the bucket and lid are transfer decorated in sepia with scenes of red deer stags in good detail. The underside is marked "Argyle Stoke Pottery" and is complete and in good order. A most unusual example, the first we have seen with this decoration.

Wrought Iron Prison Bunk Beds Pair of original, quality 1920's / 30's, wrought iron bunk beds, probably from a prison cell or a boarding school, but very similar or even idential, but adapted to the beds used in the TV series 'Porridge' with Ronnie Barker. These iron beds can be used as two matching singles or one on the other making a bunk bed and will take standard modern bunk bed mattresses 30" wide x 75" long. These have been professionally sandblasted and stove enamelled satin black and are complete and in superb order. Each bed will dismantle into three sections, 2 ends and the spring base, so the complete bunk bed set has six pieces. A most unusual find.

Original, quality, late 19th century, cast brass exterior bell pull embossed "Visitors" to the outer rim of the circular backplate. For use with a tight wire, non-electrical bell system. Other parts required to operate this system are usually available in stock and many other bell fittings of differing types may also be available. Replacement rear spring and washers have been fitted. This unusual example has a deep dished backplate with the pull knob to the centre and recessed within the dish. The actual knob is an original early 19th century brass door knob fitted as a replacement for the long lost original pull knob. All is now complete and in good and working order.

Original, quality, late 19th century, superb revolving oak cue stand to take 21 cues and 3 cue rests. This work of art in honey coloured oak, has a central column and three side columns supporting of the revolving section, each of the three sides has the original brass spring clips with black wooden rollers and all stands on a thick circular plinth with three large bun feet. The top of the centre has a large turned oak finial and all is complete and in good and working order. No maker's name to this rack, but of the highest quality and workmanship.

Pig Pen Wipe Original, quality late 19th century cast brass pen wipe in the shape of a standing pig in a most realistic form with a typical curly tail. This example has retained its original bristle wipe insert and was used to wipe off excess ink on dip pens. Large Green Witches Ball Original, quality, late 19th century, green coloured free blown 'witches ball' with a neck and a sheared top and a later wire loop for hanging has been fitted. This super example has a few blemishes to the mercury mirror interior, otherwise complete and in good order. These glass balls are said to have properties to ward off evil and witches, but I believe they were used in the larger houses and shops to throw around the light from the candle and oil lighting. Other similar balls may well be available.

Original, quality late 19th century most unusual cast iron door porter impressed to the underside " A Kenrick and Son" and "No 488" for the manufacturer of West Bromwich and the number for the model. This rectangular, pyramidal shaped door stop is attributed to Dr. Christopher Dresser for the design, a very prominent designer of the aesthetic movement. The body has continual designs in relief and is mounted with the original cast brass ring grip. Cleaned and lacquered and complete and in good and working order. This is the first we have had to date.

Reversible Brass Toasting Fork See our "Kitchenalia" section for current stock of similar items.
Original, quality, late 19th century, patented reversible and adjustable brass toasting fork, with a four pronged wrought iron fork to one end and a hanging ring to the other. The plate above the fork is embossed "The Patent Magic Fork" and to the top stud "Improved Patent" and the sliding control plate is decorated in relief with entwining fish. When one side of the toast or muffin is ready, the plate to the handgrip is slid back and the fork will revolve. This ingenious fork was invented and patented in 1881 by 'Elijah Brookes of Hawarden in The County of Flint', a photo copy of the patent papers is included. All has been polished and lacquered, although the lacquer may be removed at no extra cost.

Original, quality, late 19th century, huge, musical handbell, with the original leather mounts and internal leather covered double clapper. This fabulous bell is engraved to the front for the maker "G.Welch Founder 52 Bankside, Southwark, London SE" and "1880". The leather cap is impressed with star motifs and "GW". The downside of this bell is that it has a short metal fatigue hairline crack to the centre of one side, it does ring however, but with a rather dull sound, otherwise a superb bell in every aspect. Polished and lacquered, although the lacquer may be removed at no extra cost.

Original, quality, mid to late 19th century, superb, hotel sized cast iron umbrella stand with four drip trays and twenty four circular inserts to the top. This most unusual umbrella stand has a Gothic style overall, open fretted end panels with branch and leaf forms, two handles for lifting and four drop in drip trays. Some good repairs to the top rings section and replacement steel drip pans have been made to replace the original long missing cast iron ones and all has been cleaned and repainted black. Now complete and in good and working order.

Original, quality, late 19th century, very large, copper jelly mould, with a deep base collar and a large diagonal twisted body. The collar is engraved with a family coat of arms of a swan or goose rising out of a coronet, "J.A." in upper cased text and to the other side impressed "PCL8". This mould arrived unpolished (see last photo) and without a dent in sight. All has been polished and lacquered and is complete and in good and working order. A most unusual copper mould, the largest we have seen for some years.

Copper Washing Machine Original quality hand operated washing machine on a wrought iron stand. The main body is in copper with a brass drain tap, a pine top surface and a hinged lid with a galvanised 'handle' and a galvanised rotating paddle to the other end, used inside the tub. A brass maker's plate is fixed to the pine lid detailing 'The Wonder Washer', 'Patented 1928'. The copper body will lift off the wrought iron stand using the side handles to ease moving. The copper has been lacquered and the wrought iron stand has been repainted black. This example is most unusual in copper, and has provision for fixing a hand mangle to the back of the pine top. All is in superb order and complete.

Folding Boot Jack Original, quality 1920's, folding boot jack in beech and fruitwood, in a super colour. This tall example when in use is gripped by the handle bars whilst one foot is pressed onto the rubber footpad. All has been refinished and the odd worm hole has been well treated. This example is Number 382 of a limited edition of 2000. The detail is too vast to describe but the front has a circular panel of the King and Queen with flags, shields and trumpets, the reverse has a St George and The Dragon scene and the handles are detailed with the countries of the empire. The underside is detailed "May 1937 To Celebrate The Coronation of Their Gracious Majesties George VI and Elizabeth, Loved and Honoured By All Their Loyal People" and with the logo for Royal Doulton. All in amazing condition, clean and bright with just a small star blemish to the inside base.

Craven A Cigarettes Glass Change Slope Original, quality 1930's, moulded glass change slope with a colour picture of a packet of 'Craven A Cigarettes' and detailing "For Your Throat's Sake". These were used in tobacconist's shops on the counter for the shop keeper to place the customers change on. This super example is near unused with only a few minor scratches to the top surface, no wear to the picture and no chips or cracks.

Original, quality, heavy, German, 1st World War, brass shellcase base, cut from a tall standard sheelcase. The top of this item has been trimmed to a petal shaped and the underside is stamped "Polte", "DEZ", "1917", "Magdeburg", "177" and others. Ideal as a jardiniere. All has been polished and lacquered, although the lacquer may be removed at no extra cost. Complete and in good order.
