Pair of Ceramic Apothecary Jars with Lids BJ158 Original, quality pair of late 19th century dark green apothecary salve pots in ceramic with the original lids. Both these pots have suffered damage with stains and chips but no cracks. The one with the painted label has two chips to the base rim and some tiny minor chips to the top rim and lid and the other has two chips to the top inner rim and bad stains, otherwise all is complete. Great to be a pair of the same colour.

This example will take four different sized corks and is in the form of an unrealistic crocodile with its tail in the air as the handle. Each foot has a countersunk screw hole for fixing to the table or shelf. One chip to the base of the tail otherwise all is complete and in good and working order and has been cleaned and lacquered.

Kenrick Cast Iron Cork Squeezer CS4 Original, quality, mid to late 19th century, highly decorative cast iron cork press as used by the chemist shops and dispensaries and / or for wine bottling, to compress corks before dropping them into the bottle necks. This example will take three different sized corks and is the most decorative we have seen, both the top and base are covered in deep relief detail of acanthus leaves. The underside of the handle is impressed "No 7" for the model size, "A.Kenrick and Son" for the manufacturer and iron foundry of West Bromwich. This example has six drawers, one fitted out and the other five with white glass lining. The hinged top has a note folder fitted, is partitioned and reveals a pull out locking rod which runs through all the drawer fronts. The top is locked with a key and the two brass side catches slide into place for extra safety. The top has a brass lifting / carry handle, the drawers have brass knobs and the top section has a brass plaque for a previous owner and engraved "S.Jones". The brass fittings have all been polished and lacquered, although the lacquer may be removed at no extra cost. All has been fully overhauled and is complete and in good and working order.

The top is locked with a key and the two sides have catches for extra safety. The top also has a fold down nickel carry handle and a bakelite nameplate for a previous owner, impressed "T.L Barker". The exterior mahogany has been re-finished and the nickel fittings polished and lacquered, although the lacquer may be removed at no extra cost and all is complete and in good and working order. A super looker and a very usefull cabinet.

Surgeons Instrument Chest M156 Original, quality early 19th century, mahogany fully fitted surgeons empty instrument chest with a velvet lined lid, fitted top section, a slide out drawer to the lower half and brass mounts to the top corners, keyhole, recessed flush side handles and a plaque to the centre top. The plaque is engraved for the original owner "Robert Merry" a surgeon of the time. This chest did contain a few of the original instruments but was far from complete, one of these instruments circa 1830's/1840's may well be available Ref codes: M155, M157. This chest has a good colour, but it does have scuffs and stains to the finish and some shrinkage to the underside but is generally is in super condition, and it has the original working lock and key.

Surgeons Amputation Saw M155 Original quality early 19th century steel amputation saw with a checkered ebony grip, and the makers stamp detailing "H Wright 32 London Rd London", Henry Wright were Surgical Instrument manufacturers at this address from 1832 to 1843. This saw is in perfect condition with not a stain to the steel and no chips or cracks to the ebony grip. A fine example now over 170 years old. This saw was part of an incomplete surgeons set in the original fitted mahogany box, with the original owner's name engraved to the top "Robert Merry" who was a surgeon of the time. This box and other instruments from it, may well be available separately under our "Medical Dental and Chemist" section.

Pair of Ear Cornets Hearing Aid M140 Pair of original, quality 1920's, celluloid 'faux tortoiseshell' ear cornet hearing aids. Each cornet is attached to the headband and can be adjusted up and down to suit the head size and shape and the ear pieces are also moveable for comfort. Each cornet is impressed "WKS", "KOWE" and "DRGM" German for patent. These were manufactured in Germany for the UK and European market and this example is complete and in perfect condition and really does work. The idea was to conceal the cornets within your hair and particularly for the Ladies. Rare to find these undamaged.

Tin Stomach Warmer SW3 Original, quality, late 19th century, superb very thin and curved oval shaped hot water filled warmer, in tin, with a brass label, screw off cap and a folding flat wire loop handle. This incredible warmer has just one minor dent, otherwise all is in mint condition. The pressed brass oval maker's plate is detailed "Michael Wright, Hydropathic Appliance and Bath Manf Co, Matlock Bank" All has been cleaned and lacquered and is complete and in good and working order.

These were tied around the waist under ones clothing using a ribbon or bandage to ease stomach pains. Some minor dents, otherwise complete and in good and working order. W&T Avery Personal Scale S234 Original, quality, oak sit-on weighing scale manufactured by W & T Avery, circa 1900. These scales, often referred to as jockey scales, were actually used in doctors surgeries or health and mens clubs or private bathrooms. This superb example has a seat upholstered red leather, the original brass side arms and a brass mounted, cast iron steelyard sliding scale. The honey coloured oak body has square tapered legs and a drawer to one end for the record book. The seat has been re-upholsted in red leather, very similar to the original, the scale has the original paintwork, transfers and is designed to weigh up to 24 stone. The brass has been polished and lacquered, although the lacquer may be removed at no extra cost. All is complete and in good and working order.
