Silver Mounted Horse Hoof Inkwell IW20* Original quality, late 19th century, hallmarked silver mounted racing horse hoof with a close hinged lid and a polished glass inkwell to the inside. The cap to the ink may not be silver but all the other mounts are hallmarked English silver, that is the top simulated hair mount with hinged lid and the thick silver hoof to the base. The lid is engraved with a wreath of oak leaves and 'Old George' to the centre, the text on the ribbons to the lower section of the wreath reads 'Nulli Secundis' in upper case. Huge Wrought Iron Trap T31* Original quality, late 19th century, blacksmith made wolf or leopard trap, probably continental. Made on the pole trap principle with round serrated jaws, a circular tread plate and a side eye for the tethering chain. A great trap of huge proportions now illegal to use, of course. Wrought Iron Egg Set Trap T30* Original quality, unusual late 19th century, blacksmith made wrought iron trap to catch egg stealing birds or animals. This would have been set with an egg of a game bird and placed set ready in the bottom of a nest. The weight of the egg holds the trap set and when the egg is lifted off the trap, will spring to the locked position. It appears to have had very little use, has been cleaned and lacquered and is complete and in good order though now illegal to use. Punch stamped only '24' to the spring arm. A hard to find example. Glass Fly / Wasp Trap T29* Original quality, late 19th century, free blown clear glass wasp or fly trap, with ground shear top rim. The inner ledge is baited with a sticky sweet liquid to attract the wasps and flies which enter under the base, between the three feet and then find it hard to escape after consuming the sugar. Pigeon Racing Silver Trophy SG101* Original quality superb hallmarked, solid silver, two handled trophy presented in '1962' for the cross channel average, engraved as such to one side and "Mr & "Mrs W.Taylor Memorial Trophy "Presented by Taylor Bros 1962" to the other side. A super clean hallmark is found beneath the rim and the trophy is mounted on the original ebonised turned wooden base. No knocks, dents or damage and all is complete and in good order.
