	Barn Owl in Flight T142 Original, quality 1920's, mounted and cased barn owl in flight, with a good label for the taxidermist "R.Allder, of Newbury". The presentation, groundwork and foliage is as good as you can get, only to be expected from this great taxidermist. The front and two sides are fully glazed, and the front has guilded slips on the outside of the glass. The exterior has been re-taped all around, repainted and is complete and in good order. 18" wide x 15" tall + 13" front to back. Click on photo for larger and other views. Price: £485.00


Cased Merganser T141 Original, quality, circa 1900, mounted and cased merganser. This interesting example has the bird on a rock at the waters edge, with a flat sheet of glass simulating the water's surface. The groundwork generally is good and realistic, as is the painted back cloth. The adult bird is a little faded, but is in good order otherwise and the case has been re-taped and repainted. A little different, for the ends are both partally glazed and the front of course is one glazed panel. Complete and in good order. 27.5" widest x 18" tall + 8" front to back. 	Cased Otter T140 Original, quality, pre-war, mounted and cased juvenile otter, from the river Itchen in Hampshire, superbly mounted and cased, with very realistic groundwork and grasses. Mounted Carp T139 Original, quality, common carp mounted in a bow fronted glazed wall cabinet, probably 1920's / 30's. A good specimen well presented, with realistic groundwork, reeds and grasses. The bow fronted panel has a gilt edge, but no details of the fish, when and where caught, or the taxidermist. All is in good order, with the bow front and two end glasses intact and the case has been retaped and repainted. Complete and in good order. 27.25" x 14.75" tall + 7.5" front to back deepest. 	Pair of Cullingford Barn Owls T125 A pair of original, quality, late 19th Century barn owls in a glazed fronted cabinet, mounted by Cullingford of Durham. This taxidermist specialised in museum cabinet displays, with all white interiors and no groundwork. Spicer Fox Mask T124 Original, quality 1920's Fox mask, mounted on the original oak shield with a hanging ring to the top and a paper label to the reverse for the taxidermist, detailing: 'E. F Spicer F.Z.S & Sons, Taxidermists, 58 Suffolk St, Birmingham'. Not by the famous Peter Spicer of Leamington, but a good example nevertheless. All is complete and in good order. 	Spicer Fox Mask T123 Original, quality mounted Fox mask, on the the original shield by the unmistakable Peter Spicer & Sons of Leamington. This example is in the very life like, typical snarling pose as expected from this celebrated taxidermist. The ivorine plaque to the base of the shield details 'Axe Vale Hounds, Killed at Woodbury Oct 26th 1935', and the reverse is stamped for the taxidermist. A super mount in super condition. Livingstone's Eland Mount T118 Original, mounted, upper skull and horns of a Livingstone's Eland, circa 1900, on the original oak shield, mounted by E. Gerrard and Sons of London, with the remains of the original paper label to the reverse. The shield is detailed to the front: 'Eland N E Rhodesia'. All is complete and in good order. Thompson's Gazelle Mount T116 Original, quality, full head and neck mount of a Thompson's Gazelle, circa 1900, on the original oak shield of a typical shape for Rowland Ward; the reknowned taxidermist. The reverse of the shield has the remains of the original paper label for 'The Jungle Rowland Ward Piccadilly', and bears the branded 'RW'. This superb mount has some restoration to the rear of one ear and is all now complete and in good order. A pretty beast, mounted realistically, as expected from Rowland Ward. Pair of Rowland Ward Waterbuck Horns T104 Pair of original, quality Waterbuck horns with part skull, circa 1900, on the original oval shaped backboard with an engraved brass plaque to the front detailing 'Waterbuck (Cobus Ellipsiprymnus)'. The part skull has been painted and the remains of the original Rowland Ward paper label can be seen on the reverse of the shield with the 4435 painted reference number of Rowland Ward. 	Rowland Ward Grant's Gazelle T87 Original, Grant's Gazelle head and neck mount on the original Rowland Ward oak shield with an ivorine plaque to the front detailing 'Kapiti Plains B.E.A. April 1908' (British East Africa). The skin has shrunk a little in places with a few tears to the neck, but otherwise all is in good order and is a great looker. 15" widest, 38" tall, 18" front to back, shield 15" x 10.5". Mounted Spoonbill T73 Original, quality, late 19th century, well presented spoonbill in the original glazed fronted wooden cabinet. This specimen is in extremely good condition and a life like mount. The interior ground work and painted background are of the highest quality, suprisingly no labels for the taxidermist are evident. 	Rowland Ward Wildebeest T38 Pair of original, quality small wildebeest horns with a part skull section on the original oak shield, mounted by Rowland Ward, circa 1900. The horns are rather weathered but otherwise all is in good order and the reverse of the shield is chiselled out 'RW' in upper case and '741' is painted on as a reference number. 	Carved Wooden Dog CW2 Original, quality, late 19th Century, superb, carved standing dog of the St Bernard type; very realistic and proportioned in Swiss walnut with glass eyes and fine carved detail and colouring. These carvings were generally referred to as 'Black Forest', but were mainly carved in Switzerland. No damage, no chips, no repairs and complete. Horse Hoof Candlestick CS79 Original quality horse hoof mounted with a brass shoe and top mount in the original unpolished finish and engraved to the front 'Prudence 1912 to 1932'. This example has a match holder tub beneath the turned boxwood lid and a super silver plated candle stick. An unusual item of superb quality complete and in good and working order. 	Insect Storage Boxes NH3 Thirty-eight original, quality, late 19th Century, insect storage boxes in the form of a pair of books. Each box is made in wood and covered in textured 'leather look' paper and is very realistic when on a bookshelf. Each box has a sealing trim to the inside and is lined in white paper over a thin cork sheet, all have been used and are complete but in varying degrees of condition. All are the same height but some differ a little front to back. 13" tall, most are 10" front to back, all are 3.25" wide. Prices vary, ranging from £35 - £135 each. Cotton Cycle Display Cabinet A40 Original, quality, late 19th Century, glazed front wall cabinet by 'Horrockses Miller and Co, Preston', containing a cotton display with 13 items, all various stages of processing from raw to finished. Signwritten to the top front of the cabinet for the cotton processer and with an original labelled packet to the centre. The cabinet has been repainted, but not the name details and all is complete and in superb order. A very clean, bright advertising item. 23" x 19" x 3.75". Click on photo for larger and other views. 	Pair of Gentleman's Ivory Hair Brushes B2 A pair of original, late 19th century, superb quality gentleman's hair brushes, with nylon bristles and Elephant Tusk ivory backs. Each brush is engraved to the end 'E. B. W.' for the original owner. Unusual to find these with the natural surface of ivory used and worthy of note is the polished sections, showing good graining to the ivory.
