Each circular backplate has two countersunk screw holes for mounting and the rectangular plate has four. For use with a 12 volt, low voltage electric supply system. Original, quality late 19th century fireproof safe professionally sandblasted and powder coated green and the interior cold painted grey. All has been fully overhauled, the brass fittings are all original with the 'T' bar handle, a Royal Coat of Arms and an embossed surround to the keyhole with a sliding cover. The surround is detailed for the maker "S.F.Turner, Wellington Works, Dudley", "Patent Fire Proof Safe Maker". This safe comes with two keys for the door and one for the inner drawer. The brass is lacquered, although the lacquer may be removed at no extra cost and apart from a few scuffs and minor scratches. All is complete and in good and working order.

Original, quality circa 1900, 19" long surface mounted decorative door bolt in the original silver plated finish on brass and with the original keep plate. The bolt backplate has eight countersunk screw holes for mounting and the keep has two. The top end of the bolt and the backplate are decorated and all has an Art Nouveau style. The plating is rubbed in places and shows some bleeding of the yellow brass colour. All has been polished and lacquered, although the lacquer may be removed at no extra cost and is complete and in good and working order.

Original, quality moulded glass light bowl circa 1910, manufactured by Jeffersons of Canada for the UK Market and in a thick opalescent colour. This example has the original brass shade holder suspended by three lengths of replacement brass chain and an original brass ceiling rose. All has been polished and lacquered, although the lacquer may be removed at no extra cost and includes a modern wired brass bulb holder with new three-core silk-covered flex. The top rim of the bowl is embossed "Jefferson 1238" for the manufacturer and all is complete and in good and working order.

Original, quality 19th century heavy cast pink brass surface mounted door bolt with a steel ball top grip a sprung bolt and two replacement keeps made to suit giving the option. This super example has a rectangular shaped backplate with canted corners to the top and six screw holes and each keep has two screw holes. The reverse is impressed "Gibbons Wolverhampton" for the manufacturer. All has been polished and lacquered, although the lacquer may be removed at no extra cost and is complete and in good and working order. A beautiful door bolt no question. Original, quality 1920's / 30's all copper cylindrical fire extinguisher with embossed brass labels to the front and cast brass fittings, the top cap, the hose mount and a handle to the reverse. The labels detail, "John Kew & Co 8 South Parade, Manchester England", "The Underwriters Fire Extinguisher, to play turn bottom up, to stop turn back" and "Charging Directions" in detail. The rubber hose is missing and the base ring has some dents, otherwise all is in good order but not suitable for re-use. Original, quality late 19th century large sized spherical shaped gold coloured, glass witches ball. These were originally used to mirror the light around a room in the days when candle, oil or firelight was the only source of light other than naturally through the windows. These objects later acquired their superstitious properties of scaring away evil spirits and witches if you are superstitious. Originally these were free blown and silvered to the inside with an early mercury silvering and a small brass disc and ring were fitted for these to be suspended with. These were made in a huge range of sizes and colours but are not easy to find these old original ones today. All is complete and in good and working order.

Original, quality late 19th century heavy cast brass door knocker of the drop loop design with a deep embossed "balloon" design to both the backplate and knocker. Replacement threaded rods, nuts and washers have been fitted and the top hinge has been replaced made to suit. The reverse is impressed with a very clear registration lozenge mark for the year 1873. A great brass door knocker of a substantial weight the first we have seen of this model. Complete and in good and working order.

Original, quality 1920's half pint bentwood pulse measure as used by corn and seed merchants. This most unusual example is brass bound to the top and bottom rims and to the underside and is impressed "Half Pint", "GR" beneath a crown with similar marks to the inside. This example also has a zinc liner, the first we have seen ! Did these bentwood measures always have zinc liners to start with ? ? The brass has been polished and lacquered, although the lacquer may be removed at no extra cost and the wood cleaned and waxed, with no worm damage. Complete and in good order.

Original, quality late 19th century Grocers' or Butchers' shop counter weight in white ceramic in the shape of a "cottage loaf". This large example has some damage to the reverse under the top grip which could be restored but otherwise all is complete and in good order. These ceramic weights were only in use for a very short period and were made illegal in 1903 or thereabouts. This 7lb version has a band of green decoration around the lower rim, a ribbon swag to the shoulder with details for the manufacutrer "W&T Avery Birmingham", good wear marks to the underside and the original lead infill to the base. With the exception of the damage to the reverse the rest is in super condition and complete.

Pair of Avery Ceramic 4lb & 2lb Weights See our "Weights" section for current stock of similar items.
Original, quality pair of late 19th century W&T Avery ceramic grocers' / butchers' counter weights. These weights were only in use for a very short period and were made illegal in 1903 or thereabouts. These examples are transfer decorated in green with "Imperial" and "4lb" or "2lb" to the top and "W&T Avery Ltd Birmingham" in ribbon swags to the front. These are as near mint condition as you could hope for with just one miniscule blemish to the top of the "4lb" very near to "Imperial". The lead infills used to counterbalance to the true weights are present and more than that, they are both stamped in the lead with an identical customs and excise mark, 'VR' for the Reign of Queen Victoria over "572" and beneath the Crown for Queen Victoria. A wonderful pair of weights the best I have seen and complete. These were made by Wedgewood although not marked as such.

Original, quality 1930's inkstand in the original "bronzed" brass finish in the form of a gun turret with twin guns on a turn table base. The hinged lid to half of the top reveals two nickel plated inkwells and the underside of the lid is embossed "cast from metal ex - H.M.S. Tiger", "dismantled 1932" and for the maker "Thomas W. Original, quality circa 1900 / 1920's large spherical shaped brass jardiniere of a very plain form with just a reeded band of detail around the body two thirds up. The underside has the maker's logo and "British Make". Polished and lacquered, although the lacquer may be removed at no extra cost. Some fatigue to the top rolled outer rim, otherwise complete and in good and working order.

Original, quality pre-war double sided enamel sign with a mounting flange with four screw holes for "Bus Stop" style wall mounting. This example is near perfect to the one side but with some surface damage to the other, nevertheless, a very clean and bright sign with black text on white, detailing "To Be Sold Agents A.W. Neate & Sons Newbury & Hungerford. Complete and in good order otherwise.

Original, quality late 19th century horseshoe shaped crib board in oak with a drawer to the front and brass mounts to the top. Within the brass "horseshoe" is an engraved brass decoration of three playing cards, the four of hearts, five of clubs and four of diamonds: The pull out drawer to the front for a pack of cards, has a handle in the form of a tiny stirrup. The brass pegs are replacements turned up to suit and all is complete and in good and working order. The brass has been polished and lacquered, although the lacquer may be removed at no extra cost. A great cribbage board, the first we have seen in this form.

Original, quality late 19th century oval shaped bevelled wall mirror with an "Art Novueau" hammered brass cladding with four decorative embellishments. The reverse has the original backing board and all is in super condition with a spotless mirror glass. The brass has been polished and lacquered, although the lacquer may be removed at no extra cost and all is complete and in good and working order and can be hung either vertical or horizontal.

Original, quality late 19th century cast iron exterior bell pull with a hexagonal-shaped knob fitted to the front of a flat cast iron backplate with a fretted design. For use with a tight wire, non-electrical bell system. Many other bell fittings of differing types may also be available. Replacement rear springs and washers have been fitted. We do not find many exterior bell pulls in cast iron. This example has an indistinct makers name to the reverse " ? & Son London". Fully overhauled, cleaned and repainted black and complete and in good and working order.
