Tally Iron with Poker L287 Original, quality mid to late 19th century cast iron goffering or tally iron on an 'S' shaped stem, a circular cast iron plinth and the original cast iron poker with a wrought iron stem and turned wooden grip. The poker is an original one with a replacement wooden handle made to suit copied from a very wormy original one. This poker is cast with "9 or 6" for the size although this tally iron would have had a larger sized poker originally. These were used to iron collars and cuffs and even earlier to iron large ruffs worn around the neck. Very unusual to find these irons with original pokers, the poker was heated in the fire and inserted in the barrel when required for use. All has been cleaned and lacquered and is complete and in good order.

Cow Horns Table Dinner Gong G176 Original, quality late 19th century Dinner Gong with a circular brass gong suspended between a pair of polished cow horns mounted on ebonised plinths on an oval shaped honey coloured oak base. The horns have nickel mounts and an old beater is fitted to the front of the gong, as is a nickel plaque for presentation etc. All is complete and in good and working order with a super tone and resonance. The original gong is marked "Burmese" but all is of English manufacturer otherwise. Both the nickel and brass mounts and gong are polished and lacquered, although the lacquer may be removed at no extra cost.

Brass Electric Side Lamp SL433 Original, quality 1920's brass electric side lamp with three shaped legs and a tapered central stem. Has been rewired with modern three-core silk-covered flex, a new brass UK bulb holder, an in-line switch and a three-pin plug. This style of lamp is often referred to as a "Pullman" lamp suggesting these were screwed to the table in the restaurant car of a railway carriage or the same on a passenger ship. These were not used as suggested but were catalogued for a guest room side lamp or wall light using the hole in the foot on a hook on the wall. This example has in fact got three holes, one per foot, for two extra holes seemed to have been drilled out later. All has been fully overhauled, polished and lacquered, although the lacquer may be removed at no extra cost. The shade is for display only but this one can be included if required for no extra cost.

H.M.S Tiger Brass Inkstand IW117 Original, quality 1930's inkstand in the original "bronzed" brass finish in the form of a gun turret with twin guns on a turn table base. The hinged lid to half of the top reveals two nickel plated inkwells and the underside of the lid is embossed "cast from metal ex - H.M.S. Tiger", "dismantled 1932" and for the maker "Thomas W. Ward Ltd Albion Works, Sheffield". Some discolouration to the finish otherwise complete and in good and working order and the first we have seen. Robert Wells Four Bell Wall Chimes B333 Original, quality early 19th century wall mounted door chimes with four bells mounted in a "Road Hauliers Belfry" and incorporated in a a superb blacksmith made wrought iron frame with decorative wrought iron mounts. The bells were made at the Robert Wells Foundry in Aldbourne Wiltshire, two are embossed "R.W." to the interior for the same. WT&S Wall Mounted Dinner Gong G175 Original, quality late 19th century wall mounted dinner gong manufactured by W. Tonks & Son of Birmingham. This serious gong in the original finish has a pale oak backboard simulating the castellated top of a building with a bronze / brass "Mythical Beast" mounted to the centre to support the circular brass gong with the original beater in a matching colour finish mounted below. We believe this design was heavily influenced by the stone water overflow gargoyle / spouts taking the roof water out and away from the outer walls of "The Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris. These gongs may even have been made by this Birmingham Maker to celebrate or commemorate an event relating to The Notre Dame Cathedral. All is original with just the cord and the head of the beater being replaced and all is complete and in good and working order with a super loud tone and resonance.

Cased Set of Meat Carving Tools C107 Original, quality circa 1900, three piece set of steel meat carving tools, unused and in the original leather paper covered fitted box. The box interior has a purple coloured velvet to the base and purple silk to the lid. The three tools each have matching antler grips, the sharpening steel is marked "T. Turner & Co" and the blade of the knife is etched "Encore, Thomas Turner & Co Culters to His Majesty ( for King Edward VII ). This example again has never been put to use and has never been sharpened but it is complete and in good and working order, waiting to be used. Remember, these pieces of cutlery are steel, not stainless steel, and will keep a very sharp edge, but they dislike water or moisture; just wipe and dry them thoroughly.

Ladies Legs Corkscrew CS239 Original, quality 1920's folding pocket corkscrew in the naughty form of a pair of Ladies' legs in lace-up boots. Steel & Brass Dairy Can DP279 Original, quality late 19th century "Milk Churn" shaped steel dairy can of an unusual form with the original brass fittings and a swing-over loop brass handle. The dome top lid impressed is "Mount Clare", the brass hinged plates are stamped "The Standard Milk Can" and "trade mark" and the front is stamped for the makers "Dairy Outfit Company, King Cross London". Pair of Brass Ship Containers N29 Original, quality pair of late 19th century top quality brass container "Andrew Brown of Glasgow" stamped to the handles "Andrew Brown 1825 - 1957 was managing director of the shipbuilding firm William Simons & Co of Renfrew, the oldest shipbuilder on the Clyde". These super brass containers have large side handles, heavy brackets to slot into wall mounts and screw off top caps mounted with four tubes as pourers or breathers ? I am guessing these are "Saline" testers for ship boilers or possibly safety torches with four wicks for each and fueled by say colza ( vegetable ) oil but I would be pleased for confirmation from anyone. I have found a great deal relating to this Andrew Brown but no reference to these containers. Polished and lacquered, although the lacquer may be removed at no extra cost and all appears complete and most unusual.

Giant Brass Drawer Handle CK557 Original, quality late 19th century / 1920's huge cast brass chest of drawer handle with a brass grip and a huge keyhole. This most unusual example with its keyhole position and the embossed design of mistletoe decoration is almost certainly of continental origin and I would like to think it was a trade exhibition item. We have included a circular brass knocking stud in case anyone fancies it as a whacky front door knocker. The backplate has four countersunk screw holes for mounting but does not have any details or reference to the reverse for the original manufacturer. This extraordinary item appears never to have been used. Polished and lacquered, although the lacquer may be removed at no extra cost and complete and in good order.

Pair of Ships Brass Saline Measures M298 Original, quality late 19th century pair of tapered, vase shaped measures with side handles with wooden grips. These examples have a definite "Art Nouveau" style with the tapered sides, wide bases and heart shaped backplates to the handle mounts. These were used to measure the Saline contact in steamship boilers. Polished and lacquered, although the lacquer may be removed at no extra cost. These were originally used with a floating hydrometer but the jugs are complete and in super condition otherwise.

Pair of Carved Cameo Shell Electric Side Lamps SL432 A super pair of 1920's cameo Sea Shells both with similar but different finely carved panels and trimmed and converted to a pair of lamp shades with a pair of hand cast three legged brass supports. These are probably East African in origin but the fittings and three core flex etc are all replacements and all comply with legal and safey requirements. One carved panel depicts a pair of white horses drawing a chariot over the waves and the other three dancing maidens. Has been rewired with modern three-core silk-covered flex, new brass UK bulb holders, an in-line switch and a three-pin plug. We have fitted SBC bulb holders with 15-watt clear cooker bulbs. A very unusual pair of electric side lamps, fully overhauled with the brass polished and lacquered, although the lacquer may be removed at no extra cost and all is complete and in good and working order.

The underside is impressed "Warranted Hard Soldered", "2 1/2" for the capacity and with the standard plate marks for the manufacturer. The brass twin1" burners and gallery will fit a standard oil lamp shade with an aperture of 4" diam. The wick winding buttons are embossed "Youngs Screw No2" and a new wicks have been fitted. Fully overhauled and complete and in good and working order. The chimney is included but the shade is not but may well be available elsewhere in this section ref code OS183.
