Wrought Iron Night Latch Keys, 5 available K112
Original, quality mid to late 19th century wrought iron night latch key often referred to as "French Night Latch Keys", although these were manufactured in the UK as well as in France for use generally. This key would operate a variation of the thumb or Suffolk latch, acting as the thumb control. One picture here is of the key hole still fitted to a door in the High St. here in Hungerford. If ordering online please state which key is required from the left in the picture a.b.c.d. or e. All have been cleaned and lacquered and are in good order. Price is for each. 2.5" tall x 1" wide. This unusual example has a short shaft, a 'Georgian' bow grip engraved '2' to the top and a simple but unusual lever end. Probably continental. Brass and Iron Russian Padlock PL50
Original, quality late 19th century brass and iron padlock with an old key altered to fit. This unusual example, made in Russia, has a double locking mechanism. The main body and hasp is in blacksmith made wrought iron and the front and back has thick brass cover plates with a decorative bevelled edge to the upper half plates and all is contained as one with five wrought iron rivets. Polished and lacquered, although the lacquer may be removed at no extra cost, fully overhauled and complete and in good and working order. 3.5" x 2.25" and 1" front to back. Key 1.75".

Original, quality late 19th century all cast brass padlock and a steel key and a sliding brass dust cover. The front is impressed "Warranted Secure 2 Lever Lock" and "Improved Hand Made Lever.". The padlock is fully overhauled, polished and lacquered, although the lacquer may be removed at no extra cost and complete and in good and working order. 4.25" x 2.75" x 1" front to back. Key 2" x 1".

Brass Customs Padlock with Key PL34
Original, quality, late 19th century, heavy cast brass padlock for Customs use. The main body is impressed for the manufacturer "Walsall Locks of Birmingham" and the front sealing cover is impressed "C and E" with a crown between and the sliding cover to the keyhole is stamped "C383". This padlock needs to be locked before the sealing cover can be closed over and likewise the padlock can be unlocked with the key, but the key needs to be removed to gain entry to behind the sealing cover. This padlock was manufactured for use by Customs officals to insert a recorded ticket behind the sealing cover. A most unusual padlock and the first we have seen. A replacement nickel key has been made to fit, all is now complete and in good and working order and has been polished and lacquered, although the lacquer may be removed at no extra cost. 3.75" x 2 and 1" front to back.

AA Members Key for Telephone Boxes M94
Original, quality nickel key to fit the 'AA' Telephone boxes and given to members only from 1919/ 1920. The AA boxes first appeared in 1911 but members only received keys from 1919. The keys used in 1920 were so dated and continued to be issued in this shape until 1921. This clean example has the fretted double "A" and "Property of the automobile association", "1920", to one side and "Shermays Ltd, Cheapside London EC2" to the other and "H and T.V." for the maker of the key, H and T Vaughan of Willdenhall. This example is the first we have seen of this model. Polished and lacquered, although the lacquer may be removed at no extra cost and complete and in good and working order. 2.75" x 1.25".
