This example has some dents and a gash to the top edge from heavy handed efforts to remove the cap for a wheel removal, otherwise complete and in good order. Original, quality late 19th century blacksmith made wrought iron 'Clucket' bell on the original Yew wood Yoke. These Yokes were fashioned by the Shepherd and were worn by sheep when grazing, a distinctive, recognisable sound in the mist etc.. Staddle Stone, several usually available SST1
Original quality, 19th century or older, two piece staddle stone in Bath stone. A good selection is normally available in stock, nicely coloured and weathered and most with lichen and mosses to the top and some sides. These two piece stones were originally used to support timber built corn store buildings, to keep air circulating beneath and hence the damp out and the 'lid' would keep out rats and mice etc. These buildings would always have lift-off steps which were hooked up on the side wall when not in use, hence no access for vermin. The stones vary in size but generally are 26" to 30" tall, 18" to 22" wide cap, 16" to 20" wide at foot of base. Some have a square base and some rectangular, all tapering to the top. All are complete and in good order and separate pictures of particular stones can be forwarded if required. Price is for each two piece staddle stone.

Original, quality late 19th century rectangular shaped cast iron water trough with mounts at each end and a curved base. This heavy trough is embossed to the side "Hexhams Brown of Exeter". An iron foundry who manufactured amongst many things, tannery equipment and machinery. This example is heavy but it does here a crack to the floor for 2 / 3rds of its length. So now ideal for a planter. The exterior and some of the interior has later paint. An unusual shaped trough with an unknown use ? . Total length including mounts at end 54". Exterior length of body 49.5" x 13" tall and 14.5" wide.
