Original, quality, late 19th Century, tethering chog turned in lignum vitae, as used to tether single grazing animals i.e. horse, goat or sheep. This would be used with a loose noosed chain or rope to keep the animal from choking. Complete and in good order. Lignum vitae is one of the few, very heavy woods that will not float and is ideal for lathe turning. 3.5" tall and 3.25" diameter. Price is for each. Unused Copper and Brass Horse Singe H66
Original, quality late 19th century brass and copper paraffin fired horse singe. The main brass barrel will unscrew to gain access for filling and the tap controls the flow of fuel to the wick inside the decorative copper attachment. The brass comb is impressed for the maker "T.E. Bladon & Son Ltd B'Ham". Absolutely in mint condition with the original leather washers and wick. The ironwork is in the old paintwork and the backplate has four countersunk screw holes for mounting. This example was manufactured by Musgraves of Belfast, athough it is not marked as such and these were supplied to the very best stable yards for top properties. This is the first one we have seen with the front brass mount and a tack hook incorporated inside. We are sure this was supplied like this from new for the extra section to the front has no other mounting holes if it was to be fixed to the wall. Cleaned and lacquered and complete and in good and working order. Backplate 7" tall + 8" wide and 7.5" front to back.

A good old repair to the cast iron backplate and one area of the teak has been plugged and now all is complete and in good and working order. The plate has four countersunk screw holes for mounting and is embossed "Open" to the top and "Closed" below. This fitting was the control slide to operate roof vents in stables and similar buildings.
