	Brass Letter Balance PS79 Original, quality late 19th century brass letter scale of the pendulum form. This example is calibrated in ounces and parts there of up to 4oz, but not in pence as per usual for this style. The face is also stamped "N.B" for the manufacturer. The front has been polished and lacquered, although the lacquer may be removed at no extra cost and all is complete and in good and working order. 6" x 3.25" x 0.75". 	Candlestick Brass Postal Balance PS78 Original, quality brass postal balance of the candlestick form with a decorative pressed brass circular plinth, a cylindrical body and a small circular sprung plate to the top. The scale is calibrated for the years from 1840 to 1865 and the plinth is embossed with details of horns of plenty, an early steam railway engine and a cargo ship with sails up. 	Challenge Letter Balance PS66 Original, quality 1930's / 40's letter balance in pressed tin with nickel mounts and a curved weight detail to the front. This very clean example comes with part of the original box and the original leaflet with the postal rates for the period 1923 to 1940. Complete and in good and working order. 4" tall. 	Halls Patent Letter Balance PS65 Original, quality sheet brass letter balance in the original matt gilt finish, calibrated with the postal rates for the years 1865 to 1871 and the original green leather covered hinged case. This example was designed by NR Hall in 1863 and is impressed "Hall's Patent" and stamped "Parnell London" for the manufacturer. The case is rather thin at the leather hinge but otherwise in super condition, with the underside impressed for the retailer "Asprey 156 Bond Street and 22 Albemarle Street". 	Salter Letter Balance PS64 Original, quality pre-war tiny letter balance with its own leather pouch. This example has an ivorine face, a hook to the top and a spring clip beneath. The face is detailed for the maker "Salter", "Made in England" and is calibrated up to four ounces. Complete and in good and working order. Scale 4.5" x 1" x 0.25". Pouch 3" x 2.25". 	Perry & Co Brass Letter Balance PS57 Original, quality late 19th century brass letter scale of the pendulum balance form. This example is calibrated in old pennies and ounces and is for the postage rates from 1885 to 1897 and has the original steel letter clip and top split ring. The pendulum is impressed for the manufacturer "Perry & Co London". Originally nickel plated with traces still to the reverse and now polished brass and lacquered and complete and in good and working order. 6" x 3.25" widest x 0.5" front to back. 	Cased Pair of Salter Balances PS37 Pair of original, quality, pre-war, nickel plated tubular spring balances. In the original blue velvet and white silk lined leather look paper covered box, with a hinged lid and a pair of clasps. Both these balances are stamped for the maker "Salter" and the one with the spring clip, presumably for letters, is calibrated in ounces up to 16oz and the other, with a hook for parcels? is calibrated in pounds up to 15lbs. All is in near mint condition, probably not seen action and both balances are complete and in good and working order. Case 9" x 3.75" x 1". Price is for the set. 	Salters Family Scale S299 Original, quality late 19th century cast iron kitchen scale with a circular brass dial and a lift-off rectangular-shaped steel pan. This example is calibrated in half ounces to weigh up to 14 lbs. The cast iron base and pan have been cleaned and lacquered, although the lacquer may be removed at no extra cost. Fully overhauled and complete and in good and working order. The brass face is detailed "Salters Improved Family Scale No 50 British Made" and "Sylresters Patent". 	Mancur Scale S293 Original, quality, 19th century blacksmith made wrought iron mancur scale with a crescent shaped brass dial, calibrated on both sides. These scales were used to weigh wool in sacks, after shearing the sheep. The small hook and suspension ring are used to weigh up to 50lb in 5lb divisions, and the larger hook and ring would weigh from 20lb to 300lb in 20lb divisions. 	Parnall & Sons Scales and Weights S292 Original, quality set of late 19th century cast iron grocers' / butchers' shop counter scale in the original paintwork. The ceramic slab, brass pan for the weights, the arms and base of the scale are all marked for the scale maker and shopfitting supplier "Parnall & Sons Ltd of Bristol". The stack of weights are included, with the cast iron ones being embossed again for 'Parnall & Sons'. Some staining to the ceramic slab but all is complete and in good and working order otherwise. The brass has been polished and lacquered, although the lacquer may be removed at no extra cost. 17" x 7.5" x 8" tall to tip of point. Scale slab 7" diam. Brass pan 6" diam. 	Avery Beam Scale and Weights S285 Original, quality late 19th century grocers' / butchers' counter scale with a blacksmith made wrought iron centre column on a decorative cast iron base and mounted with the brass beam scale. This example has three brass chain rods with a heavy cast brass pan for the weights to one side and a circular porcelain plate to the other with a brass frame support. A stack of old brass weights and a 2lb and 1lb brass bell shaped weight are included. The ceramic slab is transfer printed for "W&T Avery of Birmingham" the manufacturer of the scale and the horizontal brass beam is stamped for the same, back and front. The brass has been polished and lacquered, although the lacquer may be removed at no extra cost and all will dismantle into nine pieces for ease of transport and all is complete and in good and working order. 	Pocket Balance with Pan S277 Original, quality 1920's brass faced pocket balance with the original steel chains and tin pan; all appears unused. The balance is calibrated in pounds up to 25lbs. All has been polished and lacquered, although the lacquer may be removed at no extra cost and is complete and in good and working order. Pan 7.25" diam x 1" deep. Scale 8.25" including hook. 	Salters No50 Family Scale S254 Original, quality Salters' cast iron kitchen scale with a circular brass dial and a lift off oval shaped steel pan. This circa 1900 example is calibrated in half ounces to weight up to 7lbs. The cast iron base and pan have been cleaned and lacquered, and the brass face polished and lacquered, although the lacquer may be removed at no extra cost. Fully overhauled and complete and in good and working order. The brass face is detailed "Salters Class II Improved Family Scale No50" and "Sylvester Patent". Pan 11" x 7.5". Base 6.75" diam. 	Pooley London & North Western Railway Balance S218 Original, quality, late 19th century, circular brass balance to weigh 112lb and calibrated in 1lbs. This most unusual example has a thick brass face mounted on a cast iron body, with a ring to the top for hanging and a swivel shackle beneath. The dial has an applied maker's plate detailing "H Pooley and Son Ltd", "Capacity 112lbs", "Class 3" and "Liverpool and Birmingham". The front also has a clear lead custom seal. The reverse also has an applied brass plaque detailing "Pooley and Son Liverpool" and "L&NW 3275", (L&NW' for 'London and North Western Railways). All has been cleaned and lacquered, although the lacquer may be removed at no extra cost. Complete and in good and working order. Dial 8" diameter. Scale 14" long. 1.5" front to back. 	Ceramic Scale Plate SP37 Original, quality late 19th century white ceramic scale slab, originally from a grocers' or butchers' shop counter scale. 	Avery Ceramic Scale Plate SP36 Original, quality late 19th century large white ceramic scale plate with a transfer printed logo for the scale manufacturer W T Avery & Co Ltd. This large but plain slab has an upstand at the back and all is complete and in good order with no chips or blemishes. Ideal as a cheese plate. 12" wide x 13" front to back. 2.25" tall at back. 	Bartlett & Son Ceramic Scale Plate SP35 Original, quality 19th century ceramic scale plate with a marble veined effect, with a transfer printed illustration to the centre detailing the scale manufacturer "Bartlett & Son Limited, Bristol" and their logo "The Scales of Justice". This example has an upstand at the back, and is stamped Wedgewood for the manufacturer. Some minor staining and a hairline crack to the front edge, otherwise complete and in good order, also ideal for a cheese board. 9" wide. 8" wide. 1.5" tall at back. 	Juggins Ceramic Scale Plate SP30 Original, quality late 19th century circular white ceramic scale plate transfer printed to the upper surface "Juggins Scale Plate manufactured by W.T. 	G &W Pairman Newcastle on Tyne Ceramic Scale Plate SP15 Original, quality late 19th century circular white ceramic scale plate, with a marbled design and transfer printed for "G&W Pairman Scale & Beam Makers', 113 & 115 Pilgrim Street Newcastle on Tyne". This was originally from a shop counter scale as used by Butchers, Grocers and on Dairy Counters. Ideal for a cheese plate. Complete and in good order. 9.25" diam x 0.5". 	John Gilbert London Ceramic Scale Plate SP9 Original, quality late 19th century circular white ceramic scale plate, with transfer printed details to the centre for "John A. Gilbert & Co Makers London" and impressed Wedgwood to the edge for the manufacturer. This was originally from a shop counter scale as used by Butchers, Grocers and on Dairy Counters.
