Original, quality circa 1900 / 1920's pink brass door latch in a serious Art Nouveau or Arts & Crafts style with a copper ring handle to one side and a replacement keep made to suit copied from an original. This example will take a standard square bar for the handle, the latch bar is handed and will only operate one way round, the backplate has five countersunk screw holes for mounting and the keep has two and the latch bar is impressed "Hope" for the manufacturer. 1915 Brass Trench Art Shellcase
Original, quality large brass shell case dated to the underside "1915". A well-executed consistent flare to the top. The underside is stamped with an assortment of numbers to include "1915", "4th MK IV Gun", "N77" the war dept arrow and others. Huge 10 Quarts Copper Kettle
Original, quality late 19th century very large copper kettle with a circular lid, a good spout and a handle over the top. This example has good dovetailed seams and is stamped "10 Q" for the capacity ten quarts ( 2.5 gallons ). Some good repairs to the underside, some minor dents. Fully overhauled and all has been polished and lacquered, although the lacquer may be removed at no extra cost and is complete and in good and working order.

Mirror and Brass Fire Screen
Original, quality late 19th century brass framed firescreen with a mirror panel with a painted floral design of poppies. The brass feet extend to the back and front. The top has a carrying handle with an ebony grip, the reverse of the mirror is covered in a thick sheet of lead and the brass has an Art Nouveau style. All has been polished and lacquered, although the lacquer may be removed at no extra. Two small surface chips to the glass just below the handle, otherwise complete and in good and working order.

Toleware Decorated Fire Screen
Original, quality mid 19th century very unusual Toleware firescreen. This super example has much of the original gilt decoration on the black japanned finish and even more special is the curved glass panel to the centre with its back decoration of gilt detail and abalone shell fragments. The front has a ribbed brass knob in the original unpolished finish. The reverse has most of its original black japanned finish and its wrought iron mounting bracket but sadly the makers' plaque is missing but the evidence of where it was is very obvious. This was most probably manufactured by Pontipool. Complete and in good and working order.

No 4 Heavy Brass Plaque
Original, quality late 19th century rectangular shaped heavy cast brass plaque with embossed "No 4" within a border bead with canted corners and four screw holes for mounting. This very heavy plate was probably the number plate of a steam locomotive or tender. Polished and lacquered, although the lacquer may be removed at no extra cost and complete and in good order.

National Parcels Insurance Co Plaque
Original, quality, circa 1900, large curved brass nameplate, with deep engraved upper cased text detailing "National Parcels Insurance Company Ltd". There are also four other screw holes where an old plate has been fixed over and two small wear holes, otherwise all is complete and in good order.

The body is embossed to each side "G B Patent Slicer & Made in England".

Small Wood Horse Measure
Original, quality 1920's horse measure in birch wood with a sliding up and down horizontal arm with brass mounts and the original spirit level. The vertical rod is calibrated to one side in inches up to 6ft and the other is in "Hands". The brass has been polished and lacquered, although the lacquer may be removed at no extra cost and the few worm holes have been well treated just in case and all is complete and in good and working order.

Huntley & Palmers Ceramic Biscuit Box
Original, quality white ceramic biscuit box in the form of a chest of drawers manufactured expressly for Huntley & Palmer Biscuits of London & Reading in 1905. This example is one of a series of twelve china 'casket' shapes decorated to simulate a chest of drawers. Each lid was decorated with a different nursery rhyme by the artist / illustrator Walter Savage Cooper 1863 / 1943. This example has a picture to the top of the lid entitled "Little Tom Tucker, sang for his supper", the underside of the lid has a panel detailing "Huntley & Palmer Biscuit Reading & London" and "Copyright Nursery Rhymes" and the underside of the base has the Royal Doulton Mark and the registration number for the years 1905 / 1906. Some rubbing to the green lines to the top rim of the body section consistent with general use, otherwise in mint condition with no chips or blemishes and complete, although the lid is original, it does not fit snugly. Otherwise all complete and in good order. Another identical biscuit box may be well available ref code: BB35.

Original, quality late 19th century mahogany horseshoe shaped wall mounted hat and coat rack with seven brass hooks on star shaped backplates and large acorn shaped finials. This example has retained the original mirror hanging plates fitted to the reverse of the frame. The brass has been polished and lacquered, although the lacquer may be removed at no extra cost and apart from a few minor scuffs to the finish of the mahogany all is complete and in good and working order.

James Bridgman Servants Intercom Bell
Original, quality late 19th century servants intercom bell with brass mounts steel springs and a central brass boss. For use with a tight wire, non-electrical bell system and can be pulled from either left or right. Other parts required to operate this system are usually available in stock and other similar bells may be available on request. Often now referred to as 'Downton Abbey' bells. The interior of this example is embossed "1.B" for James Bridgman Bell founder of Devizes in Wiltshire. The ironwork has been repainted, and the brass polished and lacquered and all is complete and in good and working order.

Copper & Tin Lion Jelly Mould
Original, quality circa 1900, copper and tin jelly mould with the upper half in copper with a reclining lion and the lower tin section with vertical ribbing. All is complete and in good and working order with not a dent or blemish to be seen.

Pair of Charge of the Light Brigade Brass Mantel Ornaments
Original, quality pair of cast brass mantel ornaments in the form of a pair of British Light Cavalry Soldiers with sabres drawn on horseback, charging against the Russian Forces in October 1854. The reverse of one of the matching pair is impressed with the registration number for the year of manufacture 1893. Polished and lacquered, although the lacquer may be removed at no extra cost and complete and in good order. Not a common model of brass mantel ornaments.

This super example has two countersunk screw holes for mounting, a shell like embossed design to the lifting hook and acanthus leaf forms to the backplate. Keswick Engraved Copper Tray
Original, quality circa 1900, oval copper drinks tray with a decorative rolled over top rim and a makers' stamp to the underside for "Keswick" and "K.S.I.A" for Keswick School of Industrial Arts. The front lower gallery is engraved "Presented to Mrs Ruth Rawes by the members of the Armitt Libray in grateful recognition of her valuable services to that institution during fifteen years - July 1927. All has been polished and lacquered, although the lacquer may be removed at no extra cost and is in super condition.

Carburine Motor Spirit 2 Gallon Can
Original, quality two gallon petrol can with the original brass screw on cap. This example is impressed to the back and front "Carburine Motor Spirit" and to the top "Not Returnable", "Glico Petroleum Spirit". The brass cap is impressed "Carburine" and although this can has two or three pin holes to the side. All is complete and in good order otherwise. These cans were often fitted to the running boards of the earlier motor vehicles and were generally in use from 1910 to say 1940's. We have cleaned the can and lacquered it, although the lacquer may be removed at no extra cost. This is the first we have seen complete and in reasonable condition.

Robert Wells No 8 Rumbler Bell
Original, quality 18th or early 19th century Rumbler or Crotal bell impressed to the front with a pattern and "R.W" for the bell founder Robert Wells of Aldbourne, Wiltshire. This example in the unpolished patinated finish has a loop to the top and is impressed '8' for the bell size. A super example, complete and in good and working order.

Original, quality 1920's brass signal horn with two ring mounts to take a strap and a polished cowhorn mouthpiece. Art Deco Turkey Car Mascot
Original, quality 1930's French Car Mascot in the Art Deco stylised form of a Turkey. This cast brass mascot was originally nickel plated but now only shows traces of the nickel. The circular base of this mascot is marked for the designer / sculpture "F. Bazin" for Frederick Bazin of Paris. All is in superb condition and recently mounted on a slab of polished marble.

Brass Clockwork Spit Bracket
Original, quality late 19th century cast brass bracket for a clockwork spit ( bottle jack ). This super example has a shaped backplate with four countersunk screw holes for mounting below the mantel shelf. The bracket arm has a ratchet type of fitting for the spit and a dove motif the to top, this arm when projected out was locked into the square hole for safety and the spit and meat would be suspended out and in front of the fire not directly over it and when not in use the arm would be put back against the mantel board and locked in the square hole again for safety. Suitable brass 'bottle jack' spits are often available in this section, if not, do ask. Polished and lacquered, although the lacquer may be removed at no extra cost and complete and in good and working order.

Set of 8 Glass Drawer Handles
Original, quality set of eight late 19th century moulded clear glass chest of drawer knobs. These examples were often used on typical Welsh dressers chest of drawers and Lancashire sideboards. Each knob has a rosette form to the front and a tapered threaded stem for twist fitting into the correct sized hole, no glue or screws required. One has a flaw in the moulding rather than a chip which is hardly visible. Otherwise all is in near mint condition, complete and in good and working order.

British Rail ( Midlands ) Steam Gauge
Original, quality 1930's brass cased railway steam gauge with a glass panel to the dial and three bolt holes to the back flange for mounting. The dial is calibrated 1 to 100lbs per sq inch and is detailed for B.R. ( M ) British Rail ( Midland ). The brass has been polished and lacquered, although the lacquer may be removed at no extra cost and all is complete and in good order.

Carltonware Guinness Cruet Set
Original, quality post-war three piece cruet set in cube form, advertising "Guinness for you" and a half pint glass of guinness alternating to the four sides. This set comprising a salt, a pepper and a mustard pot with lid, each marked to the underside for the maker "Carlton Ware and "Made in England, Trademark". Each has a plastic bung to the underside. The pepper and mustard pot are perfect but the salt has a hairline crack to one side or a scratch ? it's difficult to determine, otherwise all is complete and in good and working order.

Rowland Ward 10 Drawer Collectors Cabinet
Original, quality late 19th century mahogany ten drawer collectors cabinet originally fitted for insect specimens, butterflies and moths. This super example in the original finish has a locking glazed door and the original supplier's paper label to the reverse for "Rowland Ward The Jungle Piccadilly" and a full set of the original mahogany knobs.
