This example, the first we have seen, has a solid brass top plate with a phoenix "trademark", a decorative viewing panel to the bubble and is detailed "Best proven level tube" and "Warranted" an 8" brass ruler is inset to the full length of each side. The brass has been polished and lacquered, although the lacquer may be removed at no extra cost. Complete and in good and working order.

Set of three matching original, quality 1920's most unusual electric light fittings with frosted glass cylindrical shades, brass shade holders and frosted glass "Rings of Saturn". These superb lights have been rewired with modern three core silk covered flex and new brass UK bulb holders. Fully overhauled and with replacement brass ceiling roses and lengths of brass chain are included. Polished and lacquered, although the lacquer may be removed at no extra cost and complete and in good and working order. The frosted glass rings are replacements made to suit copied from the chipped originals. These are the first we have seen of this model.

Original, quality late 19th century Wilcox & Gibbs Sewing Machine in the original mahogany carrying case, with the original tin accessory box with a few fittings and needles and the original operating manual. This machine is complete and in good and working order, with much of the original gold lined decoration and gloss to the black paintwork. The working plate has many details of origin and patent dates throughout the world, with the latest UK patent date being 1871. The mahogany case has a brass carry handle to the top, a lockable door to one end with a key and the original finish. The toolbox in tin has a wood grained finish and the operating instructions brochure is near complete, but a little oily. A well above average example of a very pretty machine.

Original, quality, brass plate, with slots for nine different sized coins patented in 1853. This brass plate was fitted onto the shop counter. Its purpose was to test coins for counterfeits, a coin was placed in the relative slot and if correct in weight and size, it depressed the rocker balance below the slot and fell into the drawer below, faulty coins would not go through the slot or stayed in the slot. The slots on this example, each with its own rocker balance, are marked "Sixpence, Fourpence, Threepence, Half Sovereign. Sovereign, Shilling, Florin, Half Crown and Crown". The brass top plate has been polished and lacquered, although the lacquer may be removed at no extra cost. A most unusual coin scale / detector, complete and in good and working order.

Original, quality 1920's / 30's curved enamel plaque with white text on a bright red background. Each corner has a countersunk screw hole for mounting to the telegraph pole. This example details "GR" with a crown between for the reign of King George V 1912 to 1936. A very clean example with just one area of damage to the enamel on the left hand side, otherwise complete and in good order.

Original, quality pre-war blacksmith made wrought iron spark guard with a low and wide rectangular shaped front panel with two side supports from front to back. The main panel is decorated with blacksmith made wrought iron leaves and curling branches all within a wrought iron frame, with curled over feet front and back. All is backed with a copper mesh panel. The ironwork has been cleaned and painted black and the copper mesh polished and lacquered to the front only. A very unusual and great looking spark guard. Complete and in good working order.

Original, quality very large and heavy six branch cast brass 1920's hanging electric light with replacement card candle look-a-likes fitted to cover the bulb holders. All has been rewired with modern three core silk covered flex and new brass UK bulb holders. The arms have acanthus leaf decoration and the main body has a band of laurel leaf and berry forms. The original brass ceiling rose is included as is a length of replacement brass chain. Fully overhauled, polished and lacquered, although the lacquer may be removed at no extra cost and complete and in good and working order. A superb six branch electric light fitting.

Original, quality pair of late 19th century small oval shaped cast brass photograph frames in the original matt gilt finish and with the original very thin and delicate cushioned glass inserts. This superb pair of frames have seen little use and have very fine detail to the wide and deep frames with a ribbon top mount. The reverse has an oval sheet brass backplate screwed in position which can be removed to change the photograph and has a folding easel style backstand stamped "Giroux Paris", there is also a decorative ring to the top for wall hanging. Complete and in good and working order. A super pair of most unusual frames in stunning condition.

Good repairs to few areas of damage to the gallery and minor warp to the floor, complete and in good order. A very unusual pattern to the floor.

Brass Locomotive Name Plate
Brass Locomotive Name Plate "Sir Hesketh Bell"
Original, quality large cast brass locomotive name plate issued in 1954 on a 60 Class Garrett steam locomotive number 6002 and supplied to the East African Railways. These were known as 'Governor Class' as each of the locomotives were named after a British Governor of the, then, East African Territories.

This plate was removed from the locomotive in 1969 and sold off in 1970. A fantastic piece of provenance included with this plate are the specification details on original East African Railways headed paper signed by the Chief Mechanical Engineer J. Mimano dated April 1970.

This name plate in cast brass has 6 bolt holes for mounting and the old original red painted background colour and note is very heavy.

Original, quality pair of 19th century three piece wooden short boot trees in polished beech. Each tree has a hinged main foot piece, a heel section and a slide in central section to tighter each tree when inside the boot. Each tree has two engraved brass plaques one detailing the original owner "PC Tarbutt Esq" and the other "M. Wildsmith & Sons, makers 17 Jermyn St London SW". Each tree also has its sections marked according to left boot or right boot. A super very usable pair of boot trees, size not indicated but complete and in good and working order.

Original, quality, moulded clear glass 'snail' shaped inkwell, mounted on a cast iron stand in the original bronze coloured finish. The sleigh shaped stand is decorated in relief, with acanthus leaves, has a pen rest to the top at the back and is impressed "Patented 1879". When the inkwell is tilted up, the neck is a flush fit to the back circular plate and when down enough ink is tilted forward for dipping the pen into. An ingenious invention which works very well and is a super find to have both pieces, still intact, barely used and still together.

Three matching original, quality, mid to late 19th century, two tone saltglazed stoneware sherry/spirit barrels, with applied Coats of Arms to the front. Each barrel has six simulated bands, a hole to the bottom front for a tap and a hole for filling to the top. Impressed "2" to the top surface and "Doulton and Watts, Lambeth Pottery, London" for the manufacturer. All these barrels are identical, with only a variation in the colour of the glaze. Two are perfect and the other has a little crazing to the front and to the applied Coat of Arms, although nothing is missing. A great set of barrels, sold together.

Each barrel is 12.5" tall.

This superb example is in exceptional near mint condition with the maker's name stamped to the front and a permanent ratchet. The cowhorn knob has a couple of mice nibbles and the rod mount plate has been trimmed to 3" long, otherwise all is complete and in good and working order and a very smooth runner.

Original, quality, set of four asbestos irons, with one cover with handle, three different shaped clip on cast iron bodies, one steel trivet and most of the original wooden crate, with a good detailed label showing this set of irons. The top of the steel cover is stamped "Patent May 22nd 1900" and each of the bodies are embossed "Asbestos Sad Iron". The crate is complete apart from the slide on lid. All appear complete, apart from originally having a sheet of asbestos been fitted inside the top of the clip on cover, this has been removed in the past. All has been cleaned and lacquered, with the black paint to the handle and locking mechanism original. A good find with the crate too and label.

Crate 7.5" x 6.5" plus 3" tall.

All has been cleaned, the brass polished and lacquered, although the lacquer may be removed at no extra cost and apart from a chip to the wooden grip all is complete and in good order.

Original, quality leather bound and boxed "Roll of employees who served in His Majesty Naval, Military & Air Forces 1914 - 1918" and "Issued by Arthur Guinness & Son & Co Ltd Dublin" in December 1920. This book details the above in 42 pages listing each employee from the Board of Directors through to all the departments including those killed or survived. This fantastic document with gold leaf decoration to the cover the box and each page thoughout is in wounderful condition, as good as it was when issued bar the box having the corners very slightly scuffed.

Original, quality 1920's / 30's most unusual bar back advertising mirror for "Bass" Ales. This example has an oval bevelled mirror to the centre with a decorative hammered finish copper frame in the form of an old manuscript and mounted with an easel backstand. The mirror is detailed "Bass in Bottle" with the red triangle "trade mark". The copper frame is embossed to the top with swags "By Appointment Brewers to the King" and to the bottom "Bass". The reverse has a tin backing and an unpolished copper easel backstand. Impressed for the maker "W. Davis & Son Birmingham". Some blemishes to the left and right hand edges of the mirror and some old bends to the easel backstand. Nevertheless, all is complete and in good and working order otherwise.

Original, quality late 19th century cranberry tinted oil lamp shade. This example has an inverted top body section with a flared out and frilly top. The body has a deep cranberry colour to the upper section fading to clear at the lower half and an overall etched design of acanthus swags and flowers. Will fit a standard, duplex double wick burner gallery. All is perfect with not a blemish in sight.

Original, quality late 19th century cast iron bootscraper with a shaft for pushing in the soil or mounting in stonework, and a 'Lyre' shaped scraper top mount. The shaft is impressed for the manufacturer "T. Holcroft and Sons of Wolverhampton" and '4505' for the model. It is rare to find these bootscrapers of this style in good order for they are rarely complete. This one is complete and in good and working order and has been cleaned and repainted black.

Original, quality circa 1900, heavy cast brass maker's plate, embossed "E W Maundrell Agent Calne" (Wiltshire). This unusual example has been polished to the text and border and lacquered, although the lacquer may be removed at no extra cost and has four bolt holes for mounting. Maundrells was an iron foundry in Calne Wiltshire. Complete and in good order.

Original, quality 1920's all copper Art and Crafts three branch pendant light fitting. This super example has a cut out bowl and press beaten copper supports and arms with suspended bulb holders and the original matching copper ceiling rose. A length of new brass chain and a new replacement brass ceiling rose is included. Has been rewired with modern three core silk covered flex and new brass UK bulb holders. All has been fully overhauled, polished and lacquered, although the lacquer may be removed at no extra cost and is complete and in good and working order. Original, quality set of five matching 18th or early 19th century Robert Wells bells in the old patinated finish fitted with wrought iron rings and circular wooden mounts in the old paintwork. We have not seen the likeness to these fitting before, although we a very familiar will Robert Wells bells from the bell foundry in Aldbourne Wiltshire. Four of these bells are embossed 'RW' to the interior for the bell founder and four are marked with the sizes, 2 x No 12s, 1 x 13 and 1 x 14 and the unmarked size looks probably to be No 11 and the one without RW is a No 12. These are sold as a set of five.

The wooden mounts vary from 4.50" to 5" diam.

The bell mouths vary from 3.75" to 4.25" diam.

Total height including ring approx 7".
