Marble Washstand Top/Dairy Counter
Oak Roll Top Desk
Original, quality 1920's solid oak, small roll top desk with twin pedestals and a fitted interior. Each pedestal has three drawers, two shallow and one deep filing drawer, and a pull out typist's shelf above. A wider drawer is fitted to the centre above one's knees when sitting at the desk. When the tambour fronted shutter is down, all the drawers and the shutter are locked. The fitted interior has many pigeon holes and two small drawers and both the interior and exterior are in the original dark oak colour throughout. Each pedestal has two concealed castors to the underneath and all will dismantle into three main body sections plus the central drawer and footboard back panel. All is complete and in good and working order with a key for the lock. 47.5" widest, 50" tall and 30.5" front to back. 30.5" work surface from ground and 25.5" from ground to under drawer.
Dolphin Cast Iron Door Knocker
Original, quality late 19th century highly detailed cast iron door knocker in the form of a styalised 'dolphin'. This is the fish the Georgian period portrayed in their architecture, it actually resembles a cod more closely, nevertheless this is the finest we have seen and the detail does need seeing to believe it. A replacement cast iron knocking stud has been made to suit and replacement bolts have been fitted. All has been cleaned and lacquered and is complete and in good and working order. Drop 8.5" including knocking stud, 2.5" wide and 4.25" front to back.
Carron Cast Iron Strongbox
Original, quality early to mid 19th century cast iron strongbox with a lift up hinged top, a lifting drop handle to each end and the lid and the original key and brass keyhole with locking cover. All fire sides have beaded and fielded type panels, and the lid is embossed 'Carron' for the iron foundry/manufacturer. All has been fully overhauled, cleaned and lacquered and is complete and in good order and working order. Agood clean and heavy working strongbox. 18" x 12" 11.5" tall.
Cast Iron Book Press on Stand
Original, quality late 19th century cast iron book press on the original mahogany stand. This super example has brass mounts to the grips and top nut and sits perfectly within the surround on the top of the base. The base has two drawers, two side flap extensions and thick legs for stability. All is complete and in good and working order. Total height 45", 16" front to back, 21" wide with flap down, 37.5" wide with flaps up and bed of press 15" x 10".
Galvanised Water Carrier
Original, quality late 19th century galvanised water carrier on the original blacksmith made wrought iron wheeled carriage, with a good style and shape. The carriage has been painted green and the wheels red at some time in the past and does look good. The galvanised drum has a hole to the floor and does not hold water but otherwise all is in super condition and ideal for planting up or fitting with a liner. Drum 23" tall and 20" x 24". Total length 60" x 32" wide axle. Wheels 21.5" x diam 2.5" .
Apothecary Jar
Original, quality, mid to late 19th century cyclindrical shaped pink and white ceramic apothecary jar with lid. This super example is very clean and bright with no cracks, chips or crazing. The main body is pink to the outside with a white top and bottom band and a shaped pink lid with a white knop finial, complete and in good order. 8.5" tall x 5.25" widest.
Brass Electric Side Lamp
Original, quality fabulous brass continental electric side lamp in the form of a plant in the Art Nouveau style and in the original matt gilt finish. This super example has a triangular leaf shaped base and a curved over forward stem between two crinkled edges leaves and has been rewired with modern three core silk covered flex, a new brass UK bulb holder, in-line switch and a three pin plug. The shade is not included in the price, but may be available; see our "Lamp Shades" section, item code S770. Fully overhauled, polished and lacquered, although the lacquer may be removed at no extra cost and is complete and in good and working order. 16" tall, 7" wide at base and 13" front to back excluding shade.
Pair of Brass Door Knockers
Original, quality matching pair of late 19th century cast brass door knocker of the dropped loop design with plates to the upper sections for engraving the house name or the name of those in residence. I am not sure who would want a matching pair but if you do then here they are. Replacement nuts and bolts have been fitted and all is complete and in good and working order. 7.25" x 3.25" and 1" front to back.
Black Forest Carved Key Cabinet
Original, quality late 19th century carved wooden wall mounted key cupboard. This super example, carved in the Black Forest style, has a hinged door with the original lock and key and a carving of an Edelweiss flower. The cabinet when open, reveals the seven brass hooks in the original matt gilt finish mounted on purple velvet. A well made small key cabinet ready for use and complete and in good order. 10" x 9" and 2.25" front to back.
3 Tier Wirework Plant Stand
Original, quality 1920's galvanised wirework plant stand with three circular baskets above each other, decreasing in size and all on four curved legs. Each foot has a countersunk screw hole for fixing if required. Complete and in good and working order. 36" tall x 25" widest and 27.5" spread of legs. Inner basket diam 22", 19" and 14".
Cane Covered Double Glass Soda Syphon
Original, quality late 19th century continental glass 'double bubble' soda syphon with a pewter top collar, lever and tap and a lattice canework covering overall. The pewter collar is impressed "Veritable Seltzogene D. Fevre Paris" to one side and 'Despose' to the other. The canework is near complete and in good order with just a few minor breaks, and the glass and pewter mounts are complete and in good order, but this item is now for decoration only for it originally would have been pressure filled. A super looker and not often found in such good order. 19.5" tall and 8" widest diam.
The Acme Brass Bar Cork Puller
Original, quality late 19th century cast brass cork puller with a turned wooden handgrip on a steel mount and a 'G' clamp for mounting to a table edge, bar or shelf. This superb example is one of the larger bar cork pullers produced and is detailed 'The Acme'. One action will sink the corkscrew into the cork and the second action will pull out the cork from the bottle and eject it from the corkscrew. Polished and lacquered, although the lacquer may be removed at no extra cost and complete and in good and working order. Body 14" long, handle and mount 12". Height from bar top at rest 15" and 13" front to back. Height from bar top in use 8".
Guy Lorry Mascot
Original, quality 1950's cast aluminium mascot badge for a 'Guy' commercial vehicle. This example has 'Guy' in polished aluminium with an Indian Chief head and face with a large feather bonnet and detailed "Feathers in our cap" the motto for Guy vehicles. The base flange has five bolt holes for mounting, and all is complete and in good order. 6.25" tall, 12.75" wide and 3.5" front to back.
Oak Soda Syphon Stand
Original, quality 1920's cylindrical oak soda syphon stand, with nickel mounts to the top rim, the plinth, side handles and a diamond shaped plaque to the front for engraving if required. The nickel mounts have been polished and lacquered and all is complete and in good and working order. This is the first oak soda syphon stand we have seen. The glass syphon bottle is not included in the price but may well be available see bottles section. 6.5" tall, tub 4.75" diam and 9.25" wide include handles.
Mahogany Gents Shaving Stand
Original, quality, gentleman's inlaid mahogany shaving stand with a drawer over a cupboard with a hinged door, all on 4 splayed legs. This super example circa 1900 / 1920's has inlaid decoration to the front and two sides, the backstand and the circular mirror. The mirror is adjustable both in height and angle and the brass fittings are in the original finish, but can be polished and lacquered on request. The quality of this piece is highlighted with the fact the drawer lining and the cupboard interior are all solid mahogany and the rear of this piece of furniture has been finished. Some misting and old blemishes to the mirror glass but otherwise complete and in superb order. 63.5" total height with mirror up, total with mirror down 49.5", 35" tall to work surface, mirror 13.75" diameter, 19" widest and 14" front to back.
Scottish Poker Work Stool
Original, quality 1920's hardwood stool with a thick circular top pokerwork decorated on three turned legs. All has been ebonised with the exception of the top, which has been decorated with thistles and leaves and the Scottish term "Wha Daur Meddle Wi Me". A good firm stool with a concave top, complete and in good and working order. Top 11" x 2.5", total 13.5" and 17" diam spread of legs at floor
Royal Potteries Terracotta Garden Urn
Original quality large red terracotta two piece 'Campana' shaped garden urn, stood on a later reconstituted cast stone pedestal. The inside of the urn is impressed '86' and for the maker 'Royal Potteries, Weston Super Mare', and the urn will separate at the neck. Both pieces have the remains of a greyish masonry type paint to the outside, although the red terracotta does show through and the interior is just a dusty colour from the recently removed soil. This urn has remained in the same family and in the same large conservatory in Weston Super Mare since it was purchased new around 1900/1910. The vase of the urn is sat upon the neck and a section of scaffold pipe is pushed through to assist, for the small male peg on the base of the urn has broken off, but is still wedged in the lower section, see picture. Both the side loop handles are missing, but the pair of heads to each side, originally beneath the loop handles, are still intact. The top rim of the urn has an egg and dart decoration to match that on the neck and apart from the loops missing, the damage to the male peg and various minor chips overall, it is in generally good order without sections missing, large chips or cracks and a seriously good looker and of course bearing a magic name. Total height including pedestal 56.5", height of urn only 34.5", top diameter of urn 27" and urn base 13.75" square.
Newlyn Copper Chamberstick
Original, quality 1920's superb copper chamberstick of a square form in sheet copper with a side handle, a central candle grip and embossed detail of 2 stylised sea fish. The candle grip is decorated with three tricorn heads. This item is not marked for Newlyn but has every sign otherwise. A good repair has been made to the handle and all has been polished and lacquered, although the lacquer may be removed at no extra cost, and all is complete and in good and working order. A most unusual example. 10.5" x 5.75" x 1.75" tall.
Pair of 19.5" Brass Door Bolts
Pair of original, quality, late 19th century, superb, very long cast pink brass surface mounted door bolts, with replacement keeps made to suit. Each bolt has seven countersunk screw holes for mounting and each keep has two. Polished and lacquered, although the lacquer may be removed at no extra cost. Complete and in good and working order. Bolt 19.5" x 1.5", keep 1.25" x 1.5".
Brass Electric Interior Bell Push
Original, quality, circular cast brass electric interior bell press, circa 1900, in the original matt gilt finish with a tudor rose central mount and a white ceramic press button. For use with a 12 volt, low voltage electric supply system. Other parts required to operate this system are usually available in stock. Fully overhauled, complete and in good and working order. 2.25" diameter x 1" front to back. This unusual example could also be wired up for a table call bell press if required.
Fry's Coca Advertising Mirror
Original, quality 1920's vertical shaped advertising mirror in the original mahogany frame. This very clean example is detailed " Fry's Pure Coca " in gilded upper case text with " Fry's " on the curve and "Pure Coca " straight. The odd very very minor blemish but otherwise complete and in good order. 32" x 12" exterior and 30.25" x 10.25" visible mirror.
Set of 10 Vaseline Glass Lamp Shades
Original, quality matching set of ten, 1920's bell shaped vaseline glass lamp shades, to fit standard, modern, UK electric bulb holders, Perfect for an Art and Crafts lighting set. Some slight variation in colour and some minor chips polished smooth to three shades. An incredible find and all perfect apart from previous references. 4.5" tall and 5" widest. Price is for the set.
Serpentine Shaped Burnished Steel Fender
Original, quality, mid 19th century, serpentine shaped burnished steel fender with the original fitted steel fire dogs and brass decorative floral mounts. The steel floor has been trimmed to suit its previous life, but this can be adjusted again if required at no extra cost. All has been burnished and lacquered, and is complete and in good and working order. A most unusual and well above average fender. Exterior 63" x 16" front to back + 11" tall including fire dogs.
Oak Safe Cabinet Tea Caddy
Original, quality, late 19th century, superb, well proportioned, scaled down oak cabinet in the realistic shape of a minature fireproof safe complete with brass octagonal handles, key hole covers and key. The hinged doors open to reveal one long drawer over two smaller, each with the original brass drop handles. The right hand smaller drawer is lined with silver foil and has a drop in lid, which does point towards this cabinet being a tea caddy. I have only before seen these cabinets fitted out as a smokers' cabinet with pipe racks, tobacco jar and a cigar cutter. The lock has been overhauled and the brass to the outside has been polished and lacquered, although the lacquer may be removed at no extra cost and all is complete and in good and working order. 9.5" tall x 10" wide and 7" front to back.
Marble Topped Pub Table
Original, quality cast iron pub table base, circa 1900, with an off white and veined circular marble top with a bevelled edge. The round, cast iron base has three supports, a central adjoining shelf and has the figure of Bodicea with a shield of the Union Jack to the legs, each with a lions paw to the foot. The cast iron table has been cleaned and stove enamelled black. All is complete and in good and working order. A superb pub table or occasional table, ideal for indoor or outdoor use. Top 27.5" diameter, total 30" high and 20" diameter spread of feet.
Manchester Special Constable Ebony Truncheon
Original, quality First World War ebony police truncheon, transfer decorated in colour for The Manchester Special Constable 1914-1919. This example is also detailed for the original owner "George R Guest" and with the Manchester Coat of Arms. The original leather wrist strap is still fitted, and the fore end of the ebony is impressed for the manufacturer/supplier " J. Tyzack and Sons Sheffield". A most unusual truncheon in superb condition and complete. 15" x 1.5" and strap 6" x 0.5".
Australian RAC Car Badge
Original, quality pre-war chrome finish motor car radiator mounted car badge in near mint condition and mounted on a later composition plinth. This super example is detailed "Royal Automobile Club of Victoria" to one side and "Royal Automobile Club Associate" to the other and the chromed shoulder is impressed "property of the RACV" and "4580" presumably for the membership number. Both the enamel roundels are perfect and apart from the nick off the top of the crown all is perfect and in super condition and the original mounting nut is included. Badge 5" tall and thread x 4" wide. With stand 7.5" tall x 4.75" diam base.
Cut Glass Blue Overlaid Electric Light Fitting
Original, quality 1920's superb cut glass hanging bowl, electric light shade with replacement chrome chains and ceiling rose and a new bulb holder wired in three core white/silver coloured silk covered flex. This most unusual glass bowl is deeply cut with very detailed designs and is perfect with not a chip or blemish in sight. Complete and in good and working order. Marbled Ceramic Washbasin
Original, quality, mid to late 19th century, off white ceramic washbasin, with simulated marble veining. This super example has a deep circular bowl, an inset soap dish, a toothbrush recess, a brass plughole and the original brass plug and chain. All is perfect, with not a chip or crack in sight and is complete and very usable. Top 24.5" x 20", bowl interior 14" diameter and 6" deep, exterior depth 7.25".

Cased Goshawk
Original, quality, pre-war, mounted adult Goshawk with good plumage and later recased by D Keningale. This three side glazed case is finished in green with tapered and beaded corners. A great looking specimen, with good groundwork and colour all round. Complete and in good order. I first sold this in 1994. 34.5" x 21.25" and 12" front to back.
Pair of R Wells Rumbler Bells
Pair of original, quality, 18th or early 19th century, rumbler bells mounted on the original blacksmith made wrought iron wishbone and spike. This spike would be inserted down the top of the collar or on the side of a haulier's horse drawn road wagon. The bells are secured in the loops of the wrought iron, with rolled up wrought iron horseshoe nails and are decorated and impressed "R.W" for the bell founder from Aldbourne, in Wiltshire. Complete and in good and working order. Each bell 3" diameter, total 8" x 7" wide + 4" front to back. Price is for the pair.

Large Cast Iron Kettle
Original, quality late 19th century large cast iron kettle, with tubular wrought iron loop handle over, a good spout and a reeded circular cast iron lid. Impressed with the registration number for the year 1898. There appears to be a hairline crack to the centre of the lid only or it could be a casting blemish? Otherwise all is complete and in good and working order. 13.5" tall including handle, 11" wide and 15.5" including spout.
Fishing Creel
Original, quality late 19th century straw fishing creel in a French weave. This example is the best we have seen in a long time and has the original canvas and leather adjustable shoulder strap. No breaks, no dents and no worm damage and complete and in good and working order. 8.5" tall, 13.5" widest and 8" front to back plus the adjust.
8ft Galvanised Water Trough
Original, quality late 19th century heavy, riveted and galvanised 8ft long water trough in superb condition. Each end has a ring grip for lifting or perhaps for tethering livestock. Will hold water to the top so ideal for watering livestock, as a fishpond or a planter. This is the best we have had and is complete and in good and working order. 96" x 24" x 24".
Small Cast Iron Kettle and Lid
Original, quality, late 19th century, very small cast iron kettle with a blacksmith made wrought iron handle and a circular cast iron lid. The underside of the kettle is impressed "L" in a diamond motif and "No 1". This super kettle in the Scottish pattern, has been cleaned and lacquered and although the inside is pitted and rusty all is complete and in good order. Difficult to find these tiny cast iron kettles today. 7.25" tall, body 5.5" wide and 9" front to back including spout.
Folded Brass Coaching Horn
Original, quality late 19th century brass coaching horn with the stem bent twice so the length of the instrument is only a third the length of the complete playable tube. The horn is not marked with any manufacturer's details although the nickel mouthpiece is impressed "Chappell's Patent New Bond St London". Very minor dents only no other damage and with a good tone. Polished and lacquered, although the lacquer may be removed at no extra cost and complete and in good and working order. The first we have seen. 23.5" long and 3.75" widest at flare.
Doulton 1902 Coronation Tankard
Original, quality, Doulton saltglazed, two tone tankard with a rear loop handle and white applied decorative scenes of seated gents in tricorn hats drinking or smoking and a horse and rider with seven hounds chasing of a stag. This example is mounted with a hallmarked silver rim to the top edge, engraved "Coronation Day Esher 1902". The underside is impressed "Doulton Lambeth England" and "9969". All is in superb condition, bright and clear, but there is one small chip to the lower corner of the strap handle, otherwise complete and in good order. 5.25" tall, 3.5" and 5" wide including handle.
Brass 'Secretary' Letter Flap
Original, quality, 1920's, cast pink brass, plain letter flap with 'Secretary' in white enamel inlaid upper cased letters. Replacement nuts and bolts have been fitted and all has been fully overhauled and polished, and is complete and in good and working order. External 8" x 3.5", aperture 6" x 1.75" and bolt centres 7".
Pierced Steel Fender
Original, quality early mid 19th century finely pierced steel tender of a super design with the original sheet steel floor and turned bun feet. The delicate design incorporates circular studs and lozenge shaped panels. The floor has been cleaned and repainted black and the steel burnished and lacquered. One replacement foot has been made to suit and all is now complete and in good and working order. 46" long external x 9" tall and 11.5" front to back. 44.5" length internal.
Nickel Biscuit Barrel
Original, quality late 19th century, possibly continental, circular biscuit box in nickel with a hinged lid with a 'Puma' finial and two "Indian Elephant Head" side mounted handles. The whole of the lid and sides are covered in Acanthus leaf decoration and the plinth in birds and leaves. The underside is impressed "J.S 24290". A wonderful biscuit barrel, the best we have seen. Has been polished and lacquered, although the lacquer may be removed at no extra cost and complete and in good and working order. Base 6.75" diam, body 5.25" diam and total height 7" including puma.
Arts and Crafts 3 Branch Electric Light Fitting
Original, quality 1920's three branch arts and crafts hanging electric light fitting in the original oxidised on brass finish. This super light has been fitted with three old and original frosted glass shades with original oxidised shade holders. Has been rewired with modern three core silk covered flex and new brass UK bulb holders. The original ceiling rose is included as is a length of new oxidised on brass chain. A great looking light fitting ready to go, complete and in good and working order. 19" diam exclude shades, 23" long, 21" chain and 2.5" rose.
Oak Lebus Bureau Bookcase
Original, quality 1920's honey coloured oak, two piece Bureau Bookcase. This most unusual item of furniture is the first we have seen and is complete and in super condition. The base unit has a fitted interior with a tambour front to the writing section, with a lock above the panelled base and a typewriter slide to the right hand side over four drawers. When the tambour front is down and locked an internal mechanism locks in the four side drawers. The top lift off glazed bookcase section has two glazed doors with the original fretted decoration panels and lock and key, and the interior has two adjustable oak shelves. The bookcase section is screwed to the base but can be separated for ease of removal. One key is included for the doors at the top and one key for the tambour front. All in the original finish and in good and working order. 72.5" tall, cornice 31" wide and 11"deep, writing surface 28.5" wide and 23" front to back.
Power Petrol Can
Original, quality two gallon petrol can, code dated to the underside for the year 1939 and with the original brass screw on cap. This can is impressed "Power Petrol" to the sides and is embossed to the top "Petroleum Spirit Highly Inflammable", "3/=" and "The Power Petroleum Co Ltd, Riverside Wharf, West Street, Charlton S.E.7" and the brass cap is embossed "Power Petrol". This can has been cleaned and repainted in red oxide primer paint and is complete and in good order, an unusual two gallon petrol can. These cans were often fitted to the running boards of the earlier motor vehicles. 12.5" tall x 9.5" x 5.75".
Bar Top Lemon Squeezer
Original, quality late 19th century superb silver plated on brass, Hotel or bar top lemon squeezer of the most grand design. This example is impressed to the top with the registration design number for the year 1887, has the original honey coloured oval shaped oak base and the very 'Arts and Crafts' Ebony side handle. The silver plate is well rubbed in places with much of the brass showing through, and the glass is a replacement to suit, otherwise, all is complete and in good and working order. This is the first of this type of lemon squeezer we have had for a long time. Polished and lacquered, although the lacquer may be removed at no extra cost and complete and in good and working order. 9" tall x 10.75" x 5.75".
Butchers Meat Cleaver
Original, quality, late 19th century, blacksmith made wrought iron large butchers meat cleaver of an interesting construction for the main blade has been forged between the two sides of the long handle. The blade has a hanging eye hole to the corner, a hooked end to the grip and is stamped "No 7" and "Sheffield". All has been cleaned and lacquered and is complete and in good and working order. 31" x 7" and 0.75".
Pair of Brass Door Porters
Pair of original, quality, late 19th century, cast brass door porters / door stops, with cast iron weighted bases. These examples, the first we have seen, have very detailed embossed designs of acanthus leaves to the face of the base and continued up the shaped stem and ring handle grip. The cast iron weight to the reverse is impressed "JCS" for the maker James Cantland and Sons and is fitted to the brass body with two slotted bolts. All has been cleaned / polished and lacquered, although the lacquer may be removed at no extra cost and is complete and in good order. 12.25" tall, 6.75" wide at base + 2.75" front to back. Maple and Co Oak Revolving Bookcase
Original, quality 1920's/30's honey coloured oak revolving bookcase with eight compartments for books and all supported on a cross frame with casters. Each compartment is 6" deep, 11.5" wide and 9" tall, and all is in superb condition, complete and spins/turns with ease. An ivorine disc is fixed to the central pillar detailing the retailer/manufacturer "Maple and Co London and Paris". 34" tall and 19" square.
